Am I missing something or what? Those CJB links about brake conversions and stuff dont mention anything about the brake lines being different going into the Lincoln master cylinder. It just says swap your 85-86 M/C for the 85 Town Car unit and you'll get stronger braking when doing a disc brake swap because the Town Car M/C has larger ports. I looked at the two and they dont have the same brake line nut sizes bolting into the M/C's. I finished the front's with Lincoln rotors, 73mm calipers and 87-93 mustang spindles, and Im still using the stock M/C. It seems to be working but its not insanely powerful at stopping like I'd hoped. I'm not sure it I should do the backs now since I dont know how to change the M/C's since they dont match up. AndI dont want my stock unit to not be able to power all disc brakes. Anybody have this problem, know what to do, or know that I forgot something? Thanks, Scot Rod

My pages are written to the 87-93 cars.

So do your own conversion there for the pre87 cars. Should be a few fittings that you need from the parts store.

wait a sec ..im gonna be using the lincoln towncar master cylinder also it's already in there ...if what smock's sayin is true you should add that part in there about needin adapters to fit it to the brake lines right? heres what you say:79-86s: Since you already have a 2 port SAE threaded MC, you can swap one from a different car. The '85 Lincoln Towncar with a 1" bore is about the best unit for most all brake upgrades.

Good, Im not the only one who saw that. His site covers 79-86 cars too, and it doesnt say anything about needed adapters or where to get them. Now he's saying his site doesnt cover those years, but it does. I'm not complaining because the site is helpful, but you should include that so I dont get surprised after my car is torn apart. And then say there isnt anything about my year on your site.

You're all correct. The Lincoln M/C will not accept the factory threaded couplings on stock steel brake lines that run from the combination block to the original M/C. Either buy the proper steel brake lines and couplings and bend them yourself (don't forget to flare the ends). Or take a piece of coathanger and make a template of both brake lines and order them from Classic Tube with the proper sized couplings for the Lincoln M/C.

If I covered the pre 87 cars, I would have more info on spindles, struts, Ebrake handles etc that make the cars different.

Man, maybe I should just delete the blurb about the 85 Towncar there for all you people.

If you need to know the sizes, get on Bendix or Raybestos's site. One of them list the specifics of the MCs with the threads so you can compare that to your stocker and guy buy fittings.

jeez, some people's kids.

Shut the ***** up Matt. Your the one whole made the site, so be responsible for it. If you do put fraudulent, or incomplete info on your site then be prepared to hear questions. You always come across as God's gift to Mustangs but you dont know crap just because you made a brake conversion site. Hey brainiac, maybe if you knew this, then you should have put the links to Bendix or Raybestos on your site. I'm sorry you have nothing better to do but memorize every part number that relates to 5.0 brake components and then become arrogantly annoyed when someone questions you.

Don't worry Matt, just stop talking now. Just do us all that favor. I already know your not very technical and don't bother researching the subjects you publish over the internet. As a fellow stanger I trusted you but not only is your info false, when I ask you about it, you give me smart ass comments and attitude. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Cut the immaturity and ignorance. These pages are here to help people, not try and belittle them and judge them. You obviously haven't done the swap either so you have no room to talk. Furthermore, since you haven't tried the swap, you shouldnt publish about it. Makes me wonder what else your incorrect about.
