Little Black Nipple On Axle

Theres a litel black nipple do-dad on the pass side of the axle. My exhust was stuck between it and the UCA so I yanked on teh exhust and it flew off when i picked it up I noticed theres a spring in there I poped it back on but now it bounces cause of the spring. Does any boduy know what it is, what it does, Did i hurt anything poping it off, and will it hurt anything with it bouncing?

It is the axle vent. I did pretty much the same thing. I then pushed it on and used a pair of pliers to crimp it in place.

So i didn't hurt anything lol. I was worried i was gonna get the Oh dude you messed it up new axle time.

I am finially making progress on this thing then that happened i was like well no point in going any farther if i messed it up

They are like 10 bucks from the dealer, should you need to replace it.

ah I'll keep the bouncy one. What the hell does the axle need a vent for?

As the axle heats up it lets the air pressure escape so you do not force oil out of the seals. Then when it cools again it lets the air back in.
