Live axle to IRS

Are there any additional parts needed to swap the live axle from my car to IRS from an 01 Cobra?? my friend has a 01 cobra and we are going to trade rear ends. dont know if we need any additional parts, besides exhaust. He has 3.73s in his rear end now, so we will putting the 3.73s into the live axle for his car, and while we are swapping rears, I am going to put 4.10s in the IRS for my car  I think its a direct swap job, but if anyone can give some links to write-ups about the swap or fill me in w/ any additional information about the swap from their personal experience let me know :nice: Thanks in advance :flag:

Ya, i know that the IRS isnt a drag rear end. I never take my car the strip and this is my daily driver. I want to make this car with well-rounded street performance. Good handling in the curves and some quickness. My GT will serve as my daily for some time since i will be getting an 07 Cobra or one of the tuner 05+ Stangs after I graduate from college. The guy w/ the 01 cobra is going to be putting a new motor and tranny (only 11K miles on it) in his car, so i am more than likely going to be buying his stock tranny and motor. Then, i am going to prob. just slap a s/c on there once i get some more money after the swap.

If you're doing it cause you like autocross, it's one thing. But otherwise, I hope you like wheel hop...cause if you try to drag that baby with any sort of traction you're going to get a lot of it. Not to mention a broken half shaft if you're not lucky. The IRS is a less than desirable rear end for strait line acceleration, to say the least.

You might as well just swap cars and let him build up yours.

now....to convince him to trade an SVT cobra for a GT. LOL. he was one of the other mechanics at ford i worked with, and he still works there. We're going to be doing everything on the lifts at Ford and with the help of some of the other experts when we get to parts that we need a little help on, so at least im not going to have to pay for installation fees.

He's ditching the engine, the transmission, and putting in a solid axle.

So he's going to have a Cobra instrument cluster, steering wheel, seats, taillights, and front/rear bumpers.

I could really care less if the car says GT or Cobra, fast is fast.
