It's got to be pretty hairy to learn and practice "driving skills" in a Viper. ESPECIALLY if you're not experienced. You just can't take a car to a competition if you're afraid of it or not very comfortable flogging it.
I remember my first experiences with a 300+hp stang and it took a little getting used to accelerating so much quicker. Previously, I had only been around 200-220hp stangs. Just felt like I had to focus a little more to get comfortable with how much road I covered in a shorter amount of time.
I've heard of a few new Viper owners who have totalled their cars within the first month of ownership. Vipers are something you should graduate to, not just start out on because you can afford it. Doesn't make sense, unless you really take the time to build driving skills.

lol...i find it funny that many of those guys could drive circles around you...do you realize that reaction time has ZERO effect on ET's and trap speeds??....also the fact that there were many cars at the V10 nationals putting down 900+RWHP, on a suspension that is VERY tight, and very much designed for the road course and NOT the drag strip...think you could put that kind of power to the ground? i doubt it...maybe you should head over to the Viper forums and post that they cant drive...Kevin R. said:

thats possible, but most of the poser guys/garage queen drivers or "windbreakers" as they are known in the Viper community dont show up for the V10 nationals...But in any case drag racing is a fairly new thing in the Viper world and there are even fewer hardcore draggers in the Viper world, but since David Boggs(Dr. Roof on the Viper forums) started the V10 nationals there have been some HUGE improvements. The thing with dragging the Viper is the suspension is SO stiff from the factory that drag racing is actually its weak point, the sheer factory power allows it to run sub 12 second 1/4 mile times from the factory but the suspension setup only hurts it. So many of these guys with 900+rwhp(Heffner and RSI have just recently built TT boost only cars that have 1000+rwhp) are running a very stiff suspension so traction is limited. The only guy i know of that has gone as far as to seriously start to modify his car for dragging is Tommy Fudge who has a custom built solid rear axle in the car...go.rei GT said:
