Typically the mufflers would go under the rear floorpan, but I have a 4 link to clear. Anyone know what issues would I have putting mufflers next to the gas tank and how would than sound? Thanks!
I did this on my 67, but I moved the tank into the trunk first. I covered the hole in the trunk floor with aluminum then mounted a fuel tank on top of that.
No with just turn downs on the Dynomax turbos, it was louder. Full length tailpipes play a good part in sound reduction. It's been 20 years, but the noise level is about what it is with my 06 GT. Identical setup= identical sound.
If you've got the room that's a perfect place for mufflers. '68-'82 Corvettes put the mufflers there for space, but it makes the interior a lot quieter.
