A friend of mine just installed MAC LT Headers and after 500 miles (weekend trip to the Ocala Silver Springs Show) his car was smoking like crazy as the AC line was burnt and freon was spilling onto the hot exhaust system/headers.

What can be done to prevent the AC lines from hitting the new Long Tube Headers because I don't want the same thing happening to me as I'm about ready in the next couple of weeks to install the same MAC LT Headers on my automatic....his car's a stick......not that I think that matters since MAC makes the same Headers for both the stick and auto.

Secondly, what bolts should be used to avoid any exhaust leaks.....can and should you reuse the original Ford bolts.

Please advise.

Sincerely,

yes reuse stock exhaust manifold bolts, and most have heard B4 a LT install to check the A/C lines when install is complete. All you have to do is remove the current hardware that holds them there, and pull the lines up higher, and zip tie them away from the header. I did not have to w/ my Jet Hots.

I did not have a problem with my A/C line when I install my BBK LT. It's the O2 extension. I just rewire it with a zip tie and no more prob

I just moved the lines up a little from the header. No leaks yet.
