Have any of you guys bought longtube headers off ebay? I've seen alot going through there and they seem to be very cheaply priced. Any ideas on them, they are black, but don't list brand. They have the 1 5/8 mandrel bent primaries usually going to 3 in collectors with reducers to 2 1/2in. What's your guys input? Here is a link to what I'm talking about.

and also what is the difference between 87-93 longtubes and 94-95? Are they interchangable or anything?

Thanks
Casey

There are flowtech headers, i have a set of them sitting in my garage right now and i decided not to install them becuase i can get my stainless shorties fixed for free. i payed 91 for mine, i heard they leak at the slip fits and other places, ask someone who has them on their car

I've seen those too, but i got the bbk's specificly because they are made for our car and thats it. the ebay's might be great, might be crap, but $100.00 shipped seemed abit high when you don't know, plus you will have to hack together a h pipe or exhaust to match it....

silverbullit these headers can be put on this car, you will need to have some custom exhaust work done or get a matching H-pipe. If you do get these, i would recommend pre welding the slip fittings and around the collectors to significantly prevent leakage.

i don't think i'm going to get those headers, i think i'm going to go with some bbk's. But i've got a few questions:

Is it any harder to take out the transmission or bellhousing to change the clutch? If so how much more difficult?
and
How much of a difference would I notice in hp/tq and seat of the pants feel if I were to switch from BBK unequal lengths to longtubes with my mods? Would I benefit more with 1 3/4 in primaries or 1 5/8 in? Should I stay with 2 1/2 mid-pipe and catback or should i think about getting 3 inch pipes?

Thanks

Casey,

Those are the same headers I have on my car. The install was very easy because they are flanged. You want to order locking bolts from them though, the ones they ship them with tend to loosen up a little bit after a month or so. I had the muffler shop custom fab me the fittings along with the O/R X-pipe to go with it and they work and sound just fine. One thing you may want to do is have them jet coated, because after a few weeks all of the supposed ceramic black will fall off. Or, you can have them ceramiced. For $100.00 bucks, you really can't beat the deal. You don't have to jack the motor up or anything. No leaks for me and I have had them on for 1 year.

I would go with th 1 5/8, 1 3/4 you will loose alot of low end, more for a straight race car, like drag ,,circle track etc. see what some other say.... go with the bbk's, custom exhaust shops aren't cheap. I got my bbk longtubes for $190.00 on ebay, brand new, guy never used them, a matching bbk shorty h pipe with cats (normally 330.00$$) for $48.00 off ebay, barely used looks new inside, and I just got a dr.gas off road x pipe for bbk headers off ebay, for $180.00, brand new. Took me about 1 month to peice this together but if you have the time just be patient, things come along, I've got great deals out of stangnet classifieds also..
Just as a great example, I've waited 3 years for a supercharger, I bought my vortech v-2 sq with after cooler, 2 gauges a gauge pillar, and upgraded lines to braided , for only $1900.00, brand spanking new in the box, the guy bought it a year ago for $4400.00 and left it in his garage, sold his car and then sold the charger on ebay, where I grabbed it.... score!!!!

Well... I finally got tired of being told to get rid of the parts that are taking up space in the garage, so I decided to put a some parts on Ebay... Thanks to Ebay, and a couple local deals... I made enough to buy me a few extra parts... And since the money didn't come from a paycheck, it was more than justifiable....

Here's some pics of the first items that landed...!!!

I got these through Mustang2race from the Corral... He is totally legit, and has MAC headers for every application... Apperently he has to get rid of all his stock, and just wants to blow them out... I saved over $100 on these, and paid yesterday by paypal, and recieved them today... (his shop is 30 miles from my house)...

Here goes...

These are the MAC 1-5/8" Ceramic coated LT's (notice the EGR connection)... Woo Hoo...

I've talked to enough people that have installed these, and the consensus is, that both BBK and MAC have their share of fitment problems.... Personally, I have MACs, and I have had them off a couple times, and they went back on with no problems... so the price ended up being the deal maker...
