What an awesome list of parts and a very fine looking car. It should absolutely fly!
I would be very careful with that rear as the others have stated. You have the power to EASILY snap shafts with the flick of your foot.
Do you have plans to run it at the strip? I would like to know what it runs.
If I were rich I would probably have about the same list of mods as you. I do have the Mexican block already but the stroker, and supercharger will be down the road. Aluminum heads is what I am shopping for now.

i would be more worried about the rear... i give it about 38 seconds of "spirited use" before it goes.

But in all other respects, awesome car.

I will be the first to find out when the 8 inch blows, but we will see how far I get. I didnt have the throttle down past half yet,
I really like the Holley commander 950 throttle responce, it scary.

Hey everyone, total newbie here : thanks for an awesome forum!

TOM B:

I actually registered on this forum to search out a Paxton / Holley 950 Commander TBI for a 289 setup and ended up on this thread... So you've done it !?!

Can you humor a few questions ? :

- is it the Novi 1200 meant for carb'ed cars, but without the carb enclosure?

- what size pulleys are you running?

- obviously, the TBI didn't need the enclosure (at least I don't see it on your engine), so where did you mount the MAP ?

- how hard was / is it tu tune ?

Thanks in advance for any and all answers! Don't worry: I won't be copying your car, and even if I did, I live across the Atlantic...

Great car, good luck with it!

- peace

The 8" "MIGHT" live for a while if you don't do any hard launches or put traction bars or slicks on it. Get her rollin good then open her up, and back off a bit during shifts (you may have to do all of that anyhow due to wheelspin). That wheelspin may save your 8, of course if you ever hook up...look out! Do you have a driveshaft loop?

Very, very, sexy. The methods edbert described would probably save your 8 inch, but who would want to drive like that? Get a 9 and eliminate all your worries.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM! I KNOW THE QUESTIONS ARE FOR THE AUTHOR, BUT AS YOU HAVE NO ANSWERS...IVE BEEN RESEARCHING A SIMILAR BUILDUP: NOVI 12OO, 351, EFI...

- is it the Novi 1200 meant for carb'ed cars, but without the carb enclosure?

I DON'T THINK ITS THE NOVI (VORTECH) STYLE HEAD UNIT. I THINK ITS ONE OF THE OLDER "SN" STYLE UNITS

- obviously, the TBI didn't need the enclosure (at least I don't see it on your engine), so where did you mount the MAP ?

THIS I AM NOT THAT KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT BUT I BELIEVE MOST TBI UNITS HAVE THE MAP SENSORS TAPPED INTO THE ALUMINUM THROTTLE BODY.

- how hard was / is it tu tune ?

MOST AFTERMARKET SYSTEMS HAVE A "STARTUP" FUEL MAP THAT COMES FROM THE MANUFACTURER. YOU HAVE TO GIVE THEM YOUR BUILDUP AND SPECS AND THEY GIVE YOU AN INITIAL TUNE THAT YOU FINESSE.

THE DIFFICULTY DEPENDS ON YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH COMPUTERS AND THE BRAND OF SOFTWARE YOU ARE USING. HOLLY HAS A PRETTY USER-FRIENDLY SYSTEM. I ALSO LIKE ACCELL (BETTER, IN FACT).
