im in the market to buy a new mustang, i currently own a 1990gt , and i love the car i have owned it for about 9 years now...
i dont kno much at all about teh 4.6 or teh cobra.

i have found a 2004 cobra , it seems to have an exhaust leak. teh check engin light i son, and when u depress the clutch there is a thump in the rear of teh car

they are askin 21k for teh car, should i run away or try to see if these problems are minor and buy the car n do what i have to do to it????

the reason im asking its a white car and they seem hard to find

I'd stay away from it if I were you.

Are you sure it's an exhaust leak you're hearing or the dreaded "Head Tick"?

What code is the CEL throwing? Makes a big difference.

All 03/04 Cobra's have driveline slack which causes a minor clunking in the drivetrain. Thing is you usually only notice it when you're getting on and off the gas, not engaging/disengaging the clutch.

I think long and hard before I dropped 21K on that car.

Have you read the 03/04 Cobra FAQ located here yet?

Well I don't think I'm getting that car. I'm in no rush. And I found another one. Only problem I can't test drive it. As its half way across the country. But I did notice one thing the rear bumper cobra letters weren't painted black they were the body color. Is that mormal? Or was the bumper painted? Other then that the car looked great

I don't know if the 03/04 cobras are different, but I'm pretty sure all mustangs come stock with the lettering on the back the body color. It is just a very common mod that many buy the inserts.

Ok hey sorry i know this is a few weeks old just wanted to say that the fact that the letters on the back arent "painted" is normal, thats how they all come. and 20k for a 03' cobra with 40k isnt that bad at all, i got lucky and got an 03' with 25XXX miles real cheap (like 18500 cheap ) . And the Oxford Whites not that rare, if i was you I would read up on bobs site Stang Shifter Gaskets , he has the best FAQ there is on these cars. Do your research and you'll be very happy with your choice, I would get ahold of who ever it is selling the car and get as much info as you can on it, is it stock/what mods, get a dyno graph, check the a/f ratio, ask about the head tick (if its ever had it/whats been done to avoid it), find out how the car was driven (multiple 140-160 mph runs really can damage these cars since theres not much clearance between the pistons and the piston walls) ect... anyways good luck with you car and you made the right choice
