Looking for ideas to go from ordinary to extrodinary!

1fstpony, care to elaborate? That handle looks sweet, what is it? Not custom I hope, fits like a glove though.

65up2d8, I want all feed back so thanks. So if the Shelby mods aren't quite enough then what would you reccomend would need to be done so the other mods blend more?

Its not "real" aluminum, but i'm not sure if the mustang trim is real aluminum either. You can buy the stuff in sheets. I haven't purchased any so i cannot vouge for the quality of the product.

I guess you can't buy it in sheets afterall unless you know something I don't (I hope I hope). Looks like I'm back to my original idea.

Pak,

find some .020 sheet aluminum, and make the panels yourself. Find a pair of deluxe door panels, and do the inserts in aluminum as well.

Did you try emailing them? I had emailed them quite some time ago about a different type of woodgrain overlay for my 70. This was when the special woodgrain overlays came out for the earlier mustang in NPD but weren't available for the 69/70 (and still aren't crapola ) They must have had a kit ordered before cause they had templates and a quote for me. It was a pretty expensive kit (like $400-500) and figured i'd wait and just get a sheet of it and custom fit it to my own. Hey you never know, they may have sheets available

I have not been able to find any aluminum sheet anywhere, I've been looking. I also want to mod the stock panels, I'm not a big fan of the deluxe piece even though it would be easier to mod. I can see why it was so popular in the day being so modern looking and all but to me the stock panel has the classic old look I like and prefer in a stang.

No, and I will but I know companies aren't too crazy about asking questions that are covered in their FAQ section. They do offer a custom service if you send them a tremplate of what you want but I'm sure it's way expensive.

Using to refurbish chrome trim pieces like the ring around the gauges that has faded on every car and usually gets repainted silver, also the trim around the radio bezel.

This was my original choice for the project, certainly easy to work with and apply since it's vinyl. I haven't been to this site in a while and I see they have a new textured section as well now, I'll have to see if I can order a swatch of it.

I bought alot of aluminum for the Cobra from a local shop that did both Air Conditioning and Metal Fabrication. I was able to pick up many smaller pieces at scrap value, but made sure they were big enough for what I needed. They can order your needed thickness if they don't have it.

Also, back to your fender idea..

On the DCVER, I almost put in the vents from an Early 80's Trans-Am in the front fenders above the crease. I even had a pair, but never did it. I wanted both the look, and the venting capability. (Man,way ahead of the curve with that car 20+ years ago!)

So it's a safe bet that you don't think it's too crazy of an idea then? Did you see any particular vent in my list that you liked? I still think the BMW Z3 style gills are hot as hell.

Nothing with a grille, like the BMW piece has. Remember the 1979 Z-28 Vent? something like that.

In the Cobra, I am seriously thinking of putting in two rear-facing NACA ducts in the rear of the hood to vent out more air. Put them in the hood like the 1969-70 shelby Mustangs.
