I am looking for the name of the black plug on the front of intake on the drivers side. the plug is about 2'x3' and it sits in a small 1/2 in round hole. I see them on some cars but not others. Any ideads what it is, the purpose of item and where I can find one?

Thanks

pictures are always helpful for stuff like this, but I believe it's the ACT sensor; the Air Charge Temperature (ACT) sensor reports the temperature of the air in the intake to the computer.

^^^^ Thats what I am thinking. There is the act sensor which in 94 and up is in the air intake track and not the lower intake. There is also the temperature sending unit there too. Which sends the temperature to the gauge inside the car. Either one can be found at a parts store relatively cheap.

Its just a piece of rubber used to make the intake look good. It serves no pourpase what soever as there are no wires running to it.

This one? Serves no purpose if you ask me, except to get painted over, then fall off and be the only silver left on the upper, while the rest is black.. argh.

never seen that thing before ha ha. Might have been better to say upper intake instead of intake, but we figured it out, so it's all good.

Some came with it, some didn't. My '89 never had one.

I think those were just on the '86-'88 models but I could be wrong. My '87 had one when I bought it , but it has since cracked and fallen off.
