Looking for newer GT, how to tell which ones are 260 or 305 hp?

Ha that's funny, I loved my BMW but ready for some real action... This may not be relevant but there are 2 GT's I am looking at..Both are 02 GT, both are black, but her's the problem...One has cloth and is a 5spd, the other is leather and is auto. It is really convenient because both are in my town and both are around the same price...I really wanted to get a black GT with leather and a 5spd, but in this case I would have to go one or the other. Am I really going to notice a huge difference if I go with the auto instead of manual? I have always liked having a manual in a car, so I am worried if I will be happy with an auto..Thanks for any help!

That's funny, I just got my Mustang Oct 30th and I was trying to decide between a BMW 3 series and a Mustang.

Go with the 5-speed and cloth. I might have a sensitive a$$ but leather burns you in the summer and freezes you in the winter. Try leaving the beach and hopping in a black leather seat in your shorts and tell me how the back of your legs feel

I understand, I wanted some real action also. go with the manual, I have the
an 02 auto... it was the color I wanted with leather. so I got it. but I wish
it was a manual.... but if you change the rear gears to 4.10 it will wake up
the auto. -- I had a 99 325I and the car was so slow, but the handling was great.

Well, I am waiting to hear from my bank and I think I have decided to go with the 5 spd cloth if this all goes well...I will post what happens!

I really like my 5spd, but it's a PITA if I do alot of city driving.

5.0 were under-rated HA, HA Is that why they were so slow?

The only Mustang (OE Ford) that is Under-rated is the 03/04 Cobra.

1995 and under are 5.0's heavily underrated at 225
93,94,95 cobras are 240 horses
96-98 GT's are 225 as well
99-04 GT's have 260 horses
Mach 1's have 305
99,00,01 cobras have 325 horses
never buy an 02 cobra and if sombody has one for sale, call them a liar
the wonderful 03 and 04 cobras have an underrated 390 horsepower

My suggestion...get an 04 cobra...they are fun

??? Um FWHP=Fly Wheel Horse Power.... gee and all this time I thought I had a fast FWD car
geez c'mon now

Oh and if you think that a 99+ has 260 at the wheels stock, youre sadly mistaken... try in the 220 range at the wheels, otherwise youre saying that after my mods I lost 9 HP, I dont think so

That's pretty close, me thinks.

03 Mach was underrated but I believe they changed the HP figure in 04 to something like 310.

Totally disagree. Pre-94's dyno at around 190-195 at the rear wheels. '94-'95's dyno at slightly less. The numbers are bang on! If anything, the '94-'95's were slightly overated.

how is a 94-95 5.0 heavily underrated when most dynoed at around 190-200rwhp? by my calc. that's a dead on fw rating!

Go manual all the way; plus, the only leather in the car is the "front" of the front seats, everything else is vinyl. Not worth it, every time I sit in my "leather" seats it pisses me off!!

Well I was approved for the one I looked at for 15k, but I found one with 20k miles 2002 GT leather and 5 spd from a couple who got pregnant asking 17k, I asked them if they would take 16k, they said yes, so if everything goes well then I will be the proud owner of the 02 GT on Monday!
