OK so I completed the installation. The only thing I have left to do is to put in the gear oil.

When I tried to do the test that PowerTrac explains in their directions with the car in the air, I cannot get the limited slip to disengage by hand. Has anyone experienced this and how hard was it to disengage the unit by hand.

Thanks.

OK so I tested it back and forth in my driveway only. I believe I did hear it disengage once. However what I don't like is every time I go from "D" to "R" I hear it clunk into gear. Not from the trans but from the rear. I called Richmond tech support and they said this was normal. It still seems kind of wrong to me.

However, they told me NOT to drive it until I can get it to pass the test like they stated with the tires off the ground.

I'll keep you posted.

My Yukon positrack unit clunked too

but the noise went away after maybe 100 miles of stop and go driving around town. The guy even warned me when I picked it up the until it broke it it would be noisy.

Yes, I'm assuming your talking about it disengaging, but what about going from Drive to Reverse?

I have one, and I did not experience any problems that you are describing, although I have a manual trans. It's a bit noisy when making slow turns in parking lots and such, and its definately not always a seemless transition, but overall I am pretty happy with it.

Well after testing it again the test does work from the driver's side but not the passenger's side. I spoke to Richmond and they said I need to pull it and see what I did wrong.

Oh well.

Ok so after looking at it again, my differential case did not pass Richmond's "Go", "No Go" test. Now at this point Richmond stated I would have to find a new case and try their unit again. See they said that they can not control differences between the master case they produced the PowerTrac from, which I understand, but they also said that they do not have the machine shop to look at and fix why some people like myself have issues.

so.......

I had my Dad stop over who is a machinist he discovered what my issue was and he retooled their unit to match my differential in about 10 minutes.

Now all I have to do is put it back together.

Success!!!

Ok after pulling it apart twice, retooling the Powertrac, and 9 stitches later it all worked out.

Works just like as stated. And as far as any clicking noise you really don't notice anything.
