Which setup would I be better of with (daily driver)?

OPTION 1:
-DSS Racing 347 Pro Bullet Longblock with AFR 185 heads - $5200
http://www.dssracing.com/347pblong.html
-Trickflow Street Intake - $400
-Flowtech Induction custom cam - $350
-4.10 rear gear

OPTION 2:
-Kenne Bell Standard 1500 supercharger @ 9 psi - $3200 with pulley
-AFR 165 heads - $1,300
-Flowtech Induction custom cam - $350
-3.55 rear gear

Basically I want the setup that will have a better ratio of power to driveability. I don't want a car that stalls or has a surging idle.

You will make less power with the 331 but it is more reliable. I think the more of I stoke that is it the more wear and tear it will have over time. I am not sure about that though. Can someone tell me if that is right. Why don't you look into a 351.

I think the KB blower would be a lot of fun on the street cause they make boat loads of torque. Those guys just mash the skinny pedal at cruise speed and say good-by, were talking about doing this in forth gear. Massive amounts of torque make that possible.

IMHO, a tuning device or chip should be in your list of goodies cause you most likely will have drivability issues with either combo.

You'd also need a GT-40 lower to use the KB. Personally I would choose option 1. That Trick Flow Street Heat intake would have to go, way too small for a 347. You could make one nasty 347 combo with some 185's and Ed's cam. You just need to get his opinion on an intake. You could make over 400 rwhp with both options, but you stil need to think about all the small things. Those are what add up. (Injectors, fuel pump, gaskets, and for option 2: timing chain, pushrods, etc...)

Basically I want the setup that will have a better ratio of power to driveability. I don't want a car that stalls or has a surging idle.

But with this statement, I think option 2 would be a better option for you. No doubt you could get that 347 very streetable, but it would be easier with the KB and still make boatloads of power. I would still do the 347 though...:D

The KB comes in two configurations, one for the stock lower and the other for the GT-40 lower. I was told that there is almost no difference in performance.

What engine internals should I change in the stock engine so that it is strong enough to handle boost for a while?

I vote for option number 1. This is a very strong combo and does give you the option to build on in the future. If I could make simliar power numbers either N/A or with forced induction, I would always choose N/A, just my personal opinion.

Your kind of putting yourself between a rock and a hard place with those two set ups. Your motor only has 100k on it, so you have another 50k to go before your going to need to look into a new motor. So with option 1, I think you are wasting your money because you still have plenty of miles left on the stock shortblock. With option 2, your going to be putting more wear and tear on the motor with the blower. Sure, they are safe when tuned right, but they still wear on a motor, it's that simple.

Another thing to think about with option number 1. The cam that Ed is going to grind for a 347 is going to be quite big and is going to make the processor go nuts, so with option 1, you better add a tweecer to that list.

I too would get the 331 for several reasons. One being the better rod to stroke ratio, which allows for higher RPMs. RPMs = Horsepower on a stroker motor. Another being pinion side loading. Finally, the mysterious 347 oil consumption problems that some engines are plagued with. Most of those problems have been cured, but there are still piston/pin packages that allow for oil consumption.
