In the future I plan on getting full exhaust, CAI, pulleys, .....etc. Plan on putting all that in at one time then going to a dyno and getting it tuned one time. Hopefully it works out that way!

Anyway my question is: Do you think it would be a good idea to get shocks-springs, 4:10 gears, and a short throw shifter to start off with? I'm new to the whole scene really and wanted to make sure that if I install these items there shouldn't be any major problems.

you are going to have issues with the gears. you need a tuner to reset the speedo. there is no cable to swap out like older cars, it is all electronic. the dealer could reset it for you also, but i would prefer not to go that route. you probably will need an expert so install the gears, as many people and shops have reported install problems on the S197s. nobody has pointed an exact reason for the problems, but they say it is very tricky to set up the gears.

the springs might also cause you a problem. it depends on the drop. you might need an adjustable panhard bar for the rear, and camber plates for the front. it all depends on the amount of the drop.

shifter should be good to go, with no issues.

I plan on getting someone else to install the gears when it's time. The drop I'm looking at will only be about 1". I just want to even it up a little. Probably will go with the eibach kit and the tokico D-spec shocks.
