LOOKING TO LOWER YOUR STANG?

i have a 98 GT..53k miles..i was looking into lowering and was wondering if nebody could give me some tips of what to go with..

i know the BBK GRIPPS are really popular..whats the difference between progressive and specific? Steede, eibach, etc. also have good stuff.

My real question is..do yall suggest changing out ALLLLL of the damn shocks and struts as well..cause a some stang drivers say that they havnt relaly had a problem with using the stock (shocks and struts) PLEASE HELP!!!

1) The big four for springs is Steeda, FRPP, Eibach, and H&R. Each one has a bunch of different lines, so you have your homework in front of you. All of these are quality makes with lots of happy owners in each camp.
2) Progressive rate just means that the force required for compression changes as the spring is compressed. Specific rate means the force required does not change with respect to how far the spring is already compressed. The rule of thumb is that progressive rate is better for drivability, and specific-rate is more track oriented. The popular progressive spring is Eibach Pro Kit, but there are other good ones, too.
3) Yes, do new shocks and struts. You can get some Tokico Illuminas which are a VERY nice adjustable shock/ strut for $450 delivered off of Ebay. If that is too much coin, look into the Mach 1 and Bullitt FRPP packages, which offer springs and shocks/struts in one affordable package. I believe the Bullitt are made by Tokico.
4) When lowering, also change out your spring isolators, and install offset steering rack bushings (adjusts the rack to the new height), and a lower pinion snubber (usually included with most springs). These are all cheap items that are easily installed. You MAY need
5) If doing lower control arms eventually, it is best to do them when you do springs to not have to re-do some of the same labor later on. This is if you are doing it yoursellf, and especially if you are paying to have it done.
6) CC plates: CC plates allow your car to get a proper alignment when lowered. Typically, these are only required for significantly lowered vehicles (well more than 1.5"). If going for a huge drop, these need to be in the budget.

I would 100% recomend tokico shocks...they are pretty cheap and handle awsome, i love them. As for springs...i wouldnt do eibachs if i was you. Ive talked to a lot of people who have told me that their back springs sag a bit after a few months. I would go h&r or tokico makes realy good progressive rate springs. I have but tokico shocks and springs and dropped 1.5" and rides smoother than stock. :nice:

Hey do you have any pics of your setup and how do you like it? I am thinking about going with that exact setup an wanted to get your feedback on it and also some pics if you have them.
 
i just got the h&R springs and i am very very happy with the drop. it has probably a 2 inch gap from top of tire to bottom of fender maybe, but anyway i dont have any clearance problems. GET H&R
