The 2003 Mustang Cobra comes FACTORY with 17x9's with 275/40/17's.
They will fit fine
Tell her father, brother, and the tire guy that there are litterally thousands of Mustang owners out there that have already proven them wrong.

I would say they are wrong, considering more than half of the people on stangnet alone have 17x9's

Make sure you post pics when you get them on there. Bonus points for pictures of their faces, afterwards. More bonus points for pics of your girlfriend. haha j/k
ugh! people that talk about things they dont know piss me off! I have 18x9 with 295's and no rubbing.
They WILL fit. I hate when people that no noghting about cars tell people that do know about cars what will and won't work.
I had 3 tire stores tell me 315-75-r17's would not fit my 17x7 inch F150 wheels, and that they would not fit the wheel wells of my truck. Boy oh boy you should see those tires on that thing now with out jacking up the torsion bars or the body. They do not rub at all.

When I was tire shopping I must have gone to 10 or so tire stores dealing with idiots behind the counter. When I told them the wheel sizes 18x9 and 18x10 and said they were for my Mustang. They would laugh and comment on how I should have checked for fitment before I bought them because there was no way they would fit. They went on to tell me that no such tire size existed as 265-35-18 or 295-35-18
Idiots......

You've got 315's on a 7" wide rim....SVT32VDOHC said:I had 3 tire stores tell me 315-75-r17's would not fit my 17x7 inch F150 wheels, and that they would not fit the wheel wells of my truck. I just put on my new wheels and tires a few days ago... Absolutley ZERO rubbing in the front, you can turn the steering wheel all the way either direction with zero rubbing... Thats with 275's in the front, and I definately think this is the tire size you should go with, nothing smaller. I have 315's in the rear, and guess what, zero rubbing... I had people at work arguing with me also telling me that they wouldnt fit...Apparently they have never been on stangnet...

17x9 not fitting? I have 18x9's on the front and 18x10's on the rear and they all fit fine with no rubbing. My rears are 295/18/35 KDW-II's. The fronts are 275/18/35's. I don't see the big deal here!!!
It should make you feel extra great rubbing it in their face when you show them they were 100% wrong. That's going to be one hell of a told ya so.
Another good "rub it in their face" thing I enjoy doing to "know nothing mustang know-it-alls" is bring them outside, pop the hood, and have them point to where the spark plugs are. Talk about feeling stupid.
