Wow man.....glad your ok and I know your hurting because I've seen how much pride you express bout your car in the years of threads you've had about your build.

I won't flame on you....because you already know. But I am a bit disappointed....I always had you pegged for the type of guy who respected the power and speed of their car. But it does sound like you've learned and I hope you truly have and will keep the runs of 100+ to the track where they belong.

The post about people who are not used to cars with that much power....makes sense, but its still BS. Yeah, before you know it you can be going crazy fast, but come on, that's far from any excuse or explanation. Not trying to flame with this, but gotta call BS when I hear it. You get in over your head no matter what, and it doesn't take a genius to know you're gonna get in over your head that much quicker with a powerful car.

Anyways, good luck man.

Going 158mph anywhere but the track is unbelievably stupid and irresponsible. I am truly happy that you are ok and that God has given you a second chance. All of us do stupid stuff, but some may not live to tell about it. Hope everything goes good for you Cody.

Glad you are ok.

I will not judge you because I have "been there and done that" in my younger days.

Trust me, you will drive much more conservatively now that you have seen how easy and quickly this can happen.

You mention you feel the "shame"....trust me I have felt that exact emotion. It is a biproduct (along with the scare) of the reality of the danger you put yourself in. Chalk one up to experience. Glad you made it out OK.

Once you are blessed with children you'll suddenly lose the urge to go 158mph as the thought of your kids burying their father will overcome any desire you have for speed.

Glad your Ok man, thats the important thing. I am sure you will take this opportunity to build the car bigger and badder than before

I dont see where some of you get off saying the crap you are saying- This guy has helped nearly all of us out on one thing or another. How many write ups has he done???? There are nicer ways of saying things; Someday you might need his help, and he won't be there for you.

Cody,

You learned a very hard lesson a very hard way. Now you know exactly why I preach the way I preach regarding doing things like this and posting about them. Hopefully your car doesn't cost you an arm and a leg repairing. You have a 2nd chance, don't waste it.

Nope, thus why its surprising when he pulls a stunt like a 16 year old noob.

People learn from their experiences, and they learn both from the positive and negative comments. So people should speak their mind and I believe he'll take positive away from all the comments, even if they aren't nice. This isn't a daycare....what he did was stupid. He knows it, and we all know it. What's wrong with saying it?

Hell, he'll probably take more away from this experience by realizing he has disappointed than by being babied about it.

Cody, thanks for posting this. I still have respect for you, mabey even more know. You have helped me and alot of people on here with your knowledge and you just helped me again. I have been talking to you about TT my Cobra and this has given me pause. This is the first high performance car I have had while not living on an island so I have done dumb things too. A couploe months ago I got her to do 150 and was still accelerating but got scared and backed off and it was enough for me not to do it again because the tail started to get light. Now I think I will concentrate on suspension and brakes since the car already has bigger balls than me If the car can go faster than I want to go I dont see a reason to make it go faster yet I am glad you are alright and the car is fixable, you know the mistake and sounds like you learned from it without the cost being too high.
Good luck on the rebuild Cody.

I'm really sorry for your crash. I did the exact thing when I was racing a fire bird on the freeway. "with traffic" I just got into tunnel vision. I wanted to beat him. But he wouldn't let. Until a truck was in my lane but not his. I was doing 120mph. I braked what I felt early. But it was just in time to slow down and get behind the firebird. I panick braked rear came over a bit. But just in time. I have never felt so facking stupid.

It happens to all of us. You just think your invinsible. Its a drug. I didn't wreck but I felt so pathetically stupid. Your a man for adminiting it. Good luck.

I think its incredibly stupid to delete any comments in topics like this. Taking away the bad and leaving the good comments arent making the situation any better and its not going to change anyones opinion on the matter. So what if he gets his feelings hurt. He couldve killed himself and someone else and deserves all of the comments he gets. Having a post deleted for calling someone a ****ing retard isnt near as bad as what couldve been said. Delete this post if you like. Im entitled to my opinion and if its not good enough for this board then ban my ass. I dont care.

Any other thread about street racing would have had lots of harsh remarks, and none of it probably censored. While I know this author is a respected member, there should be favoritism.

I dont really think what I said was all that harsh. Matter of fact it was the first thought that came to mind when I read the topic title.

156? thats it?

see you spent all that time and effort making it fast in the straight line, and it became apparent that its pretty useless if it cant turn! now do some suspension stuff so you can turn at 150 like the big boys you can rape in a straight line.

at least its easily fixed. get the knee checked out and get to picking up where you left off! what doesnt kill you, makes you stronger.....
