I removed my stock hood liner from my stock hood, because I didn't like the way it looks, and because it had a lot of dirt on it.
Now, it seems like the engine sounds louder, which is sort of a good thing, in a way.
However, there's a droning component to the loudness, which is annoyingly loud. I think it's making my ears ring. I like to drive with my windows down, which I guess makes the noise sound even louder.
I was thinking about getting a Cervinis 4" cowl induction hood, with the finished underside liner.
Does the Cervinis underside liner dampen the engine noise somewhat, like the stock liner?
Will the fact that the Cervinis hood is fiberglass, make it dampen more noise than the stock metal hood?
Also, does anyone know of any aftermarket underhood liners for the stock hood, something that is smooth, and can be painted, and dampens some of the noise?
My engine, exhaust, and intake are bone stock, at the moment, but I may someday upgrade them, which is why I'm leaning toward getting the cowl hood.
Also, does anyone know if the droning is caused by the stock exhaust?
Should I just put some sound deadening material under the hood, such as the following? The Silencer Series -> "Motor Mat" looks interesting.
