loud TICK from passenger valve covers

lol, ok guys i just found the problem

it turned out my gasket on the header is shot! i checked all the bolts and they were all tight thats why i didnt think it was my headers...

so i had a buddy from work come out and check it out, and he said it was a exhaust leak so changed the gaskets and no more tick!

i feel kind of dumb now... but at least it was something simple!

thanks for all you guys help!

LOL, happens every time - I think we all tend to expect the worst from the weird noises. There's nothing that grates on the nerves worse than that.

That's why I always check for exhaust leaks first !!

Congrats now enjoy your weekend :nice:

I've freaked out a couple times, certain that I had a bad valvetrain noise. It's usually turned out to be a header leak. Especially if a peice of the gasket blows out like it sounds like it did for you, because the bolts will still be tight.

An easy way to check for exhaust leaks is to start the car up when it is COLD, and run your hand around where the header seals to the head, and header seals to the h-pipe. You will be able to feel any exhaust leaks. Of course you don't have long to do that before the headers get too hot to touch.
