low and high-end detonation

what could be some reasons i'm getting low end detonation as well as high-end. i get low end when cruising in 5th and give it moderate throttle. i get the high-end when i'm creeping up to and past 5K.

Your probaby lugging the engine in 5th. As for high RPM, it could be a dirty filter, poor gas etc.

Are you running a lower octane?
Has your timing been advanced?
How many miles on the fuel filter?

with the PI heads on a non-PI block, your compression is kinda high. are you using atleast 91 octane?

i use 93 octane. the fuel filter isnt that old.

i know it's probably time to clean out my air filter, might try that first.
