:bang: Doh.... So Im at work right now... That in itself is amazing.. why?
I left my card at home and just drove about 30miles sience the "LOW FUEL" light came on.... I'll proballye nd up haveign to rob a crackhead down here or get some $$ wired.. but eitherway out of curiosity...

TECH Q: How much Fuel Is left after the "low fuel" light comes on?
Im surprised I made it to work, and it never even started studdering... The E Redline is infrotn of the needle....so its reeeeeeeaaaalllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyy low.

Unsure if it will even crank back up, just wanting to know so I know if I can make it to teh store...

I figure about 20 miles when the light comes on. When the whole needle just passes below the redline Im on fumes. The car has gotten me home several times and then not start the next morning until I fed it a gallon of lawn mower fuel. :)

It's about 3 gallons if the light just comes on when the car is on a level surface.

If i start the car on an angle it tricks the light and it can not come on for 10 mins after the fuel sender figures out the true level.

This is on a 97GT.. Im guessing the 1999+ has this light.
That pisses me off, i never go to my full potential cause i don't know how far i can go with the needle at E. Ghey

Not on a '98 GT. An Indian guy at work tried to tell me it was a required...

I told him not on a '98 GT. My Mazda has one and after 525 miles it still hadn't come on...

Buy a 2 gallon spare gas "can". And keep it in the trunk for "just in case" When I used to run Colorado to Vegas I always kept one just in case cause there there is a 100 mile strip that has no services.

So... what happened? Did you get home? I honestly looked at your location to see if I could bring you some gas. A little too far though. Anyone in Colorado would have had my help.

its bad to run it that low. Gasoline cools the fuel pump. too much abuse can cause it to go bad. its best if it doesnt go under an eight of a tank.

He is correct on that respect. I did it to see how much gas it took to re-fill the tank after it came on, in case I was ever on a road trip and might need to know how much further I could drive if I were on a stretch of highway with few opportunities to re-fuel.

I've done it a bunch of times where the Low Fuel light comes on right before I stop for gas, I fill up, and I always get right around 13.8 gallons which is 2 gallons less than a full tank, so I guess the light comes on with 2 gallons left, if I'm getting 20 MPG, that means I have about 40 miles before I'm runnin on fumes.

I think your manual tells you the approximate level the light comes on. My '98 doesn't have the light. My Mazda does and I think it's ~1-1/2 gallons from empty.
