When my car was painted they painted the entire rear bumper. I really liked the look of the bottom part being that trim black color. I want that with black lettering. Would you try it yourself to sand the paint down and paint it black with trim paint? What would you do? Just trying to figure out whether or not to try it myself and if so then how.
Heres a really old pic of right after paint. is is lowered and taillight fixed since then.

Tape it off, sand it down. And use the proper flat black automotive paint. Some members did it to there cars over at sn95forums.com since it came standard on the 94-96 models...

Only part i would be concerned is sanding it down really good. And spraying a even coat with no runs or drips.

I think I will be ok with painting it. Ive done alot of other plastic trim peices on various vehicles. Which grits do I use for the sandpaper and what paint did they use exactly if you know by chance. Ill try and find it over in sn95forums. thanks for the info.

I did this to a 98 GT I had.

I may have went overboard, but I taped off the back half of the car to prevent overspray of any kind.

Wipe down area with dawn, and then alcohol.

Sanded the area by hand with 600 grit, then 800 grit, then 1000 grit, then 2000 grit.

Wipe down a few more times with alcohol.

I used a flat black paint intended for plastics. I applied 3 coats. Depending on the color of car you may only need one or two, for your car I would say you would be fine with two. Be sure to let the paint dry completely between coats of paint.

Remove tape after an hour or so.

Post pics here so we can all admire your work!

Hope this was helpful.

Well today I found the time to go and buy the bumper coating paint and a red scotch pad. It came out really well and am very pleased with it. Now time to order vinyl letter inserts. Sorry in advance for the crappy pics. Only had a cell phone on me.
taped off.
