lowering on 18's?

hey everyone! just doing some 'bored on christmas' shopping and decided to buy some lowering springs for the 00 gt i just bought this week..... the last owner put 295/35/18's on it, and i think he also had lowering springs on it at one point, because the factory springs look brand new and it's sitting like a 4x4 at the moment.

this is the question i have for you.....what drop do you think i can put on this without running into a major rubbing problem? i was looking at eibach with a 1.5 drop and vogtland with 1.6 front and rear.....ideas anyone?

Since your tires are 1 in lower, it makes up for the 1in increase in rim size. Thus, all the normal springs should work.....that's unless you mean he put 295s out front. How wide are the wheels?

what ^ said.

when you increase your wheel size, your tire profile gets smaller (245/45/17 stocks vs 295/35/18) and it keeps the overall (wheel + tire) height the same, or near same height.

Well, Eibach hasn't got back to me yet about their sagging issues so i would NOT go with them. H&R make great springs, dig up some info on what type you want, you won't have a problem with the rim/drop

I have eibach sportlines and ive only had one non-spring related problem. Im running 265/35's up front and 295/35's out back on 18x9 rims btw. The problem was I went out to cali last year and had 2 people in the back one weighing about 200lbs and the other 150+ so with the MESSED UP california roads my rear tires did meet the fender actually cutting into the tire's sidewall about 1/8'' (tires were brand new!) other than that Ive had no problems what-so-ever. Just dont put any heavy people in the back seat. Always get complemented on the looks!

I have 18's and am lowered about 1.5" and not too much issues. Pics in my garage....Steeda Sportlite Springs. And definately forget you have a backseat.

i have ford c springs and so far i like them a lot. Im kinda suprised more people dont use them cause their very cost affordable and great quality, its frpp you cant go wrong really...

mine is lowered 2.25"(sportline with isorater removed)with 18"(see sig for tire size)

i have no issue on rear whats so ever. But front rub ever so slightly on left full lock

Make sure you get some caster/camber plates the same time you do springs.

Ok now I have a problem, I installed my tokicos and now my right rear tire rubs on bumps. Can this be caused by the spring or the shock? It wouldnt do this before the tokicos...

did you change springs as well as shock? if so, did you reinstall isorater?
What size tire do u have?
Is rear control arm in good shape(i.e. bad bushing)?

ok you said you wanted to install springs but you're saying you installed tokicos.

Tom- I think he siad up above he has sportlines.
Could've been the old shocks were bottomed out and didn't allow it to hit, or could have been the bump stop and it got removed with the shock install.
If it's the adjustable shocks turn them to a stiffer setting and see if that fixes it.

I installed the sportlines a few months ago and left the stock shocks on. I installed new tokicos non-adjustables about 2weeks ago and now it rubs. I put the original bump stops on the new shocks. It only rubs on the right rear. I used new eibach insulators when I did the spring install. My tire size is 295/35/18. Its starting to cut some deep grooves into my tires! And ill go check for any abnormal wear on the control arm bushings right now.

the isolators go on the springs, the Bumpstop (1) is replaced with the stock ride height Bumpstop that goes above the axle
