Luggage rack on 92 LX

Hey guys. I have a 92 LX coupe that has a luggage rack on the trunk. I absolutely hate the luggage rack and want it gone. How can I get it off and how do you think the trunk will look where the rack once was?? Like will it be rusted or just have newer paint or what?? I gotta get rid of the rack.

You must drill out the rivets.

Don't even think of trying to fill in all the holes and smooth it. Way too much work when you can get a lid out of the junkyard in decent shape for very little money.

Buy a replacement lid (fiberglass) and then you don't have to worry about rust either. The J/Y idea is also good.

what about paint?? I am not planning on painting the whole car cause the paint is not that bad but I am sure it is faded a little. If I take a new lid to get painted it will look shiny and new and the rest of car wont look as good. Is there anyway they can match the paint?
