So I have a factory LX hatch, that currently has a GT wing on it. Before that it had a cobra wing that the previous owner removed and put on the GT wing. There is one hole in the middle where the previous previous owner drilled to run the third brake light on the cobra wing. I would like to go back to an LX wing, mostly to cover up that hole, and I also like the look, but im wondering if i need to drill anything, or will the LX wing just bolt right up where the GT wing is drilled?

You will need to drill holes. The LX wing has about 10-12 holes spread out across the wing. You also need to drill two small screw holes for the top corners.

Yea, like Mike said, you will need to drill more holes. There are 10 mounting studs, plus the 2 screws on the front-most corners.

Fyi, LMR has a nice hardware kit that has everything needed, including the sealing washers and the rubber plugs to cover the access holes on the inside side of the hatch.

I couldn't find a pic of a bare hatrch, but here's the LX spoiler

10 studs and 2 screws hold it down. Outlined in red above. There;s also an additional hold for the brake light, which is roughly in the area of the blue curcle.

Or get a 1984/1985 GT/LX spoiler, and not have to mess with brake light wiring at all!

I just got a replacement hatch from a LX. I was going to replace the rusty hatch on my 90 GT and keep the GT spoiler until I realized the LX had this many holes! Debating on filling them in or just rocking a GT with a LX spoiler...

Wonder what a GT with an LX spoiler would look like. Don't think i've ever seen one.

Steeda Mustang Rear Aero Spoiler (1979-1993)

Steeda's trademark 307-0002 rear spoiler is the best blend of functional aerodynamics and distinctive styling. This unique spoiler extends the rear airfoil by several inches to trap high pressure air over the rear decklid, increasing stability and control.

Is that the style people use to call "bird baths" or "whale tale"? I love the GT spoiler but not looking forward to plugging up all the holes.

Those are a but too much for me. I like the GT but the LX will have to grow on me. I got the replacement hatch for free.
