lx to gt

I was wondering is it more to a gt than the body kit? What would it take to make a LX to a GT? The reason I ask is that I am looking at a couple of different rolling shells and one is a LX that is in immaculant condition with leather interior and all. The other is a GT in marginal condition but has an 8:8 rear. I am leaning towards the LX because of the looks, but will I be missing out by not gettin the GT roller?

BTW these shells both have everything besides the engine and tranny, which I have. They both are 92's.

Well If i'm not mistaken, gt's, got a/c, power locks, doors, seats...

hhmmm....my GT does not have power seats and my friends LX has power locks and AC, so I am not sure if thats the diff, but I will look into it (I want all the cool stuff inside as well).

My main concern is performance items, like does the GT have bigger brakes, stronger springs, better suspension....things like that.

All 5.0 lx's and GTs are mechanically and suspension wise the same. Only the GT body kit and turn down exhaust tips are different from the LX's straight muffler tips and lack of a body kit. Oh, also the tailights are different. There is many different options as far as interior for both ones. I think in 91 the LX's started getting the same seats as the GT's, but it was sometime in the 90's. The LX notch is the lightest out of all the body styles but has a coefficent drag of 40-42, while the hatches have 36-38. So dont worry about anything except your personal taste in body styles.....
