I have a 96 GT with stock manifolds, BBK offroad H-pipe and 2 chamber flows. Right now the mufflers have been welded into the stock system but I want a true cat-back, and something that is a little louder. I have heard a couple of stangs with the MAC cat-back system, but they all had longtube headers. I was wondering how well the cat-back fits, and if there is any difference in sound compared to the flows.

Have you ever considered Magnaflow or SLP? They are widely popular and best sounding out there IMO..

i've had two 98 gt's. on the first one i had welded in flows, & on my last one i had a mac flowpath cat-back. hands down i liked the mac better. i had no fitment problems what so ever. i had the c/b on there before i did l/t's on my last one & it sounded great, but when i did the l/t's it actually quieted it down a bit (at idle anyway ), but still sounded great

C2, what was the noticable difference between the Flows and MAC muffs? Whas there a power difference as well or just sound?

The best way to describe the Flowpaths is to say they sound almost like a one chamber Flow. They're louder than the 40s, but don't sound as good as the Flows do IMO. If you want to make noise get the Flowpaths, if you want a cleaner, more refined rumble go with the Flows.

MAC exhaust rules. I've used MAC flowpaths for 2 years now. Awesome sound. Fits good, too.

well, i had the two 98's about a year or more apart, so i can't remember exactly how it felt. but i have the next best thing-----track proof my 1st 98 ran a 9.6x (1/8th mi) bone stock w/ welded in flows. my last 98 ran a 9.5x with the cat-back. so i think it was a definate difference, since i did a 10th better, & that was a a 1/8th mi track. so i was pretty pleased
