Mac Hpipe is LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea it probably isnt as loud as you think. Its just a matter of getting use to it. I know at first I was a little shocked and now ... cant even tell... Save your money and do some other mod thats what I am doing.

Everyone says Dr.Gas sounds like Nascar, ok I don't watch Nascar so what exactly do Nascar cars sound like???? Ive seen races where the cars are flying by, but I mean at normal speeds and daily driving, how does this Dr. Gas sound? To the original poster, just put some dynamat under the rear sears and under the carpet of the trunk, should quiet it down.

What welding?

I hear the Drgas x-pipe comes in pieces and needs to be welded together. Everyone i've talked to has bought the universal kit which does come in pieces. On drgas.com they have a pipe that looks to be one complete pipe with flanges ready to bolt on. Am I mistaken, if not why does everyone buy the universal kit instead of the shorty header complete pipe?

I put Hi Flow cats on my MAC Pro Chamber with 2 chamber Flows and that quieted the car down a bit internally. Car still sounds good on the outside, and when you get on it it still rocks like nobodies business.
If you really want to quiet it down, this is the way to go. Simply changing the mufflers to three chambers will not do it. My wife's 01 had an O/R H with flows and it was obnoxiously loud. Added a pair of hi-flow cats and it's just right. Still quite a bit louder than my catback with the stock H, but more tame than when it was pure O/R. This is exactly why I'm going with a catted H for my 02. We don't have emmisions testing anymore down here, but I don't care. I just don't want it that freakin loud. 98Blu4.6, this is what you want. I really think you'd be happy with a pair of hi-flow cats. The Magnaflows are about $99 each, but the Dynomax's cats are as cheap as $53 thru Jegs.
EDIT - I just found cats for $143 a pair on DrGas - http://www.drgas.com/item.asp?id=113

easy cheap power

sell your exhaust put it into the motor because you will not be worried about loudness after you start making mods. You will eventually want it louder. Buy LT's to flowmaster 1 chambers and dump them off. It will be loud as F--- but you will gain awesome power. Buy a cam or something with the money you save.

The Dr Gas comes as a kit in where you have to weld the pipes to the X-crossover (total of 5 pieces for the stock manifold version). I went from a H-pipe to the Dr. Gas with Flowpath mufflers and the sound level is quieter. The exhaust is smoother sounding then the H-pipe but is at a higher pitch. In my opinion I did not like it. Right now it sits in the garage debating on selling it.

I wish my set up was louder. I've got a 97GT with a Mac Pro-Chamber and a Magnaflow Cat-back. Not loud enough at all. And the sound I do have is very dissapointing. I thing the catback is the weak link as far as the sound goes. I should have bought the magnapacks instead. I did feel the increase in power after the Pro-Chamber was installed on the plus side.

Get rid of the prochamber. I had the prochamber with Spintech Prostreets and it was quiet. If you want more volume just get a o/r H-pipe. This in my opinion will sound a lot better.
