Mach 1 Chin Spoiler = Pain in my a**. (Pics)

...but I got it done. I didn't have the patience to wait for someone to help me so I just put it on by myself. I think since its not OEM, it was a little oversized because it turned out to be pretty much flush with everything (front of the bumper and wheel wells). It doesn't seem perfect (I think the driver's side is the a bit too twisted) but I love the way it looks, the black on the red looks awesome. My Mach 1 grille delete will be here Tuesday along with a Steeda short-throw shifter so I'm looking forward to that. After that I won't be doing any modifications till closer to the end of the year (when I have time to earn some more money). Anyway, here are the pics of the chin spoiler, let me know what you think...

lol, ive never heard of anyone having issues with the chin spoiler, but if u think that was a pain, wait till you do the grill delete

Haha. Wow I can't wait. Its amazing how much better the front end looks without the honeycomb. And yeah I'm curious about the grille delete. The reason the chin spoiler was a bitch was because I had to do it by myself.

they are a bit tricky when doing it by yourself. next time use some masking tape to hold it up!

i didnt realize you were already getting exterior mods for the car! looks great! i found an old pic i took of mine for. for kicks, heres what yours will look like after all the mods that have been suggested from the different threads are installed on your car..minus the pony! this time its not photoshopped AND you can see the front

aside from Bakos, there arent many GTs in this color here at least none that make themselves known! i could be forgetting some too..

i think his color is red but, its the red that changes to orange in certain lighting...he will just have to pop his head in so he can verify this

Lookin good yep a pain to install by yourself like RedDaemon said use masking tape for third an forth hands. How did they fasten on? push clips? I drilled the holes an put nuts an bolts?

mine is attached with those plastic 'christmas tree' studs

All you need now is the grill delete and a hood scoop and the front end is set

Yeah I used masking tape to help out but it wasn't too useful compared to the rigidity of the spoiler. And to fasten it I used the plastic studs (stangmods.com sent 18 with the spoiler). I ended up just making it flush with the wheel well, using masking tape to keep it from hanging down, and started drilling from the wheel well forward making it flush at each hole. I drilled the first three holes on one side and then the first three on the other then just went on from there drilling the holes keeping the spoiler flush. Definitely took a surprising amount of muscle to make it flush by myself. But it worked out in the end and I love the look. And yes the grille delete is coming on Tuesday. Unfortunately not sure when I'll be changing up the hood since the scoops cost $200 unpainted and no matter what there are no Performance Red (Thats the name of the paint color: RedDaemon) hood scoops so its going to be costly either way. But yes I'm excited about the grille delete, it'll look much better.

So you have a 'rare' 35th Ed. Premium Package? The rims arent that brushed aluminum with the dark inserts and you dont have those upgraded side scoops

im honestly confused.

i thought performance red only came on that particular trim in 99. all others that are of a similar red got Rio/Colorado red, carried over from the aeros

whats your paint code?

only 1,555 were made in Perf Red

Oh... Haha well then perhaps I'm wrong. I think I got that color name from a website when I was trying to figure out what color mine was. I think performance red was the only color listed for GTs but now that you mention that, that couldn't be right because its definitely not the rare one, otherwise I would already have the hood scoop and what not. Guess I'll have to check out the paint code some time.

it should say E8 for Rio Red

I think they call it 'Colorado Red' for the trucks, but its the same color....i think

You are correct Daemon, the color of all '99's that were not Laser Red or a 35th Anny Mustang Performance Red were called Rio Red paint code E8 like you said.

1999 Mustang Production Numbers

Rio red was in 13,956 of a total of 126,067 Mustangs for all of 1999 including all special editions.

I had called Ford with a Oasis report on my Rio Red car, but it has been lost in my recent move.

yeah. i am pretty sure i ****ed up the area on my bumper that the grill delete covers. i slid it on the bumper an i am confident that it scratched the hell out of it.
