I just lost a good chunk of the hood stripe on my black 03 Mach 1 to a power washer. The paint is fine, but the sticker was blown away. So now I'm just considering removing the stripe completly and if it looks good... I wont replace the stripe untill I plan on selling the car. (stripe might help resale)

Does anyone have any pictures of stripeless mach 1s?

I like the way a stock mach looks...

What your looking for is a GT with a shaker on it.

Some folks on the mach1registry paint a large bit of the hood black and take the stripe off. I actually am thinking of having a budy who paints just paint that sucker on instead of having a sticker.

+1

There was a guy/girl around one of these more popular mustang forums and they had a Silver 99-04 GT with a mach1 hood/shaker assembly. But didnt have the stripe. It looked alright but just didn't quite look right, imo

Agreed... the shaker hood doesn't look quite right with some sort of stripe on it. I've got my Mach 1 hood installed on my GT, and i've removed the stripe to prep the hood for paint, and it just looks out of place.

Yeah I think I'm just going to black out the hood. Anyone know how much that would cost?

I know a guy that took the hood stripe off his Mach on purpose just to be different. It does'nt look bad or anything. But it just takes away from the way a Mach 1 is suppose to look. Does anyone know how much any company or Ford charges for a complete Mach 1 stripe kit? Actually, I'd just like to have the driver's side rocker panel stripe. Mine got gnarled up alittle by some dumbass Ford dealership mechanic.

power washer > you

get a new one, or do some matching paint

When I had my hood repainted, I drove the car for a few days without the stripe. Didn't look good IMO.

If you want to take the stripe off the correct and easiest way: take a hair dryer to it to heat up the glue on the sticker and it will peel right off as you heat it up.

Then go to ford and have them put on a new vinyl decal

I've often wondered what one would look like painted black with clearcoat over the top of it. Though if I had one I imagine I'd keep it stock with the decal.
