Hey Guys:

Well i was pursing my local dealerships lot, being that they had a gt500 in the show room, so i decieded to take a look at what esle they had. I happen to run across a oxford white 2003 mustang Mach 1 , its got 49,000 miles and it is an automatic which is kind of a downer, it looks very clean and it good shape, it came from florida. And from what i can tell it looks to be modded being there is some bassani tail pipes sticking out the back. and it has 4 fresh new tires on it, they want 19,480 for it, so i was thinking about maybe trying to wheel and deal with the GT to see what i can get?? So what do you guys think should i see what i can do or just hang on to the GT?? or any advice at what to look for compared to the plain GT??

Thanks Guys

Steve

HA yeah i wish they want 65,060 for that bad boy, including some kind of a deposit just to test drive the thing, granted it is the perfect color, red with the white stripes

Stick with the GT. The Mach 1 engine will blow up at the same power level of the GT since it still has the same crappy internals as far as pistons and rods. Only plus is that it responds better to mods, but once again you run into the whole power threshold issue around 4-450hp.

Im sure you could get them to give you around 10,000 for your GT. SO hopefully all you would pay is 9K for the mach.

If you can, then I say DO IT! Your only looking at around 200 per month, if your GT is payed off already. And if you like autos (since you GT is, I assume so) . If you want an M5 (has higher 6800RPM redline and forged crank) then im sure you can find one for about the same price.

I'm a bit biased, but I say go for the Mach 1 (White is the fastest, by the way). I had a '99 GT and there is no comparison. You get a better platform to mod on, plus the exclusivity of the Mach. You can probably get the Mach for alittle cheaper. I paid 19.9K for mine one year ago with 13K miles. Good luck

What do you mean? is there a difference in the 2003 and 2004 Mach 1?

I say no, a 2003 Mach1 is not worth twice as much as a 2003 GT

I think he's referring to the manual (6800 redline / forged crank) vs. automatic

6,800 redline for 5 speed, 5,800 redline for Auto. I'd skip this Mach. Too many miles for that price. I still would'nt buy it if they dropped the price a couple thousand. Keep your GT. You've already started the mods on it.

Thanks very much.

Why don't you sell the GT for $16,000 ish? and then buy the Mach 1? You'll do much better.

How many miles are on his GT? Man, I'd be shocked if he could get $16K for it private owner sale, and definitely not $16K from a dealer. But if he could, then I'd step up to a Mach, just not that one.

Hmm good point. But sadly, thats about how its going to come out. Machs hold their value MUCH better than a GT.

But yea it probably would be wise to wait and find a better deal...but I still say that you should upgrade to the Mach. For the adverage GT owner, they will never even mod their cars enough to put it even with a mach1...so thats why I say you should get one. Much more power for the adverage person.

And yes I was refering to the manual version of the mach vs the automatic version. Engines are different. I would ONLY get the manual 5SPD version if it were me....but at the point im at, I wouldnt even THINK about trading my car in for even an 04 cobra haha.

03 machs are going for about 16k around here, with gts going for 12-14. not sure what the market is like in florida. That price seems high though, I paid $19.5 for mine 2 years ago with 24k miles.

difffently too much. Just got mine for $19,000 a few weeks ago with 7800 miles. Basically the exact car your looking at without the mods. Still, the Mach's are sweet, look around if your just going to do mild modding.

I would say get the Mach 1, but the price is too high, and its an auto. I personally will never by another auto stang. It takes the fun out of it imo. Its true the Mach 1's stock internals cant handle much more than a GT. But the Mach will get to that power level alot easier, & cheaper. Plus its got an aluminum block, while the GT is cast iron & 75 lbs heavier. Plus its got the 4 valve, the shaker hood, better interior & its a MACH 1!!! I got mine for $20k last sept. with 30,000 miles. A little pricey, but its worth it.

I thought the GT was an all aluminum also, while the '03-'04 Cobra was the only iron block.

There is no way in hell you'd get 16k for an 03 GT, unless the dumbest fool on the planet showed up on your doorstep.

Hey guys, well my gt has about 75K miles on it, granted i dont know if mods will really help in the resale value of things but i do have the loudmouth exhaust, throttle body, plenum, and demolet CAI, with an eclipse indash DVD player, and i still owe on the car as well. being i was retarted and bought it brand new with 13 miiles on the thing.. so i dont know, but im going to go and test drive it today so we shall see what happens

I traded my modded '02 GT for a '03 Mach and never looked back. I dunno about gettin an auto though. I can tell that stock my Mach was all over my modded GT. The only advantage my GT had was off the line with the 4.10s but the Mach has a ton more midrange and top end power. Not to mention the view from the driver's seat, lookin over the shaker, it's just and awesome feeling, also the 13inch Bremo brakes are much better the in the GT, as well as the seats hold you in securely. At the same time you actually get even more of a feeling like you're in an old school muscle car with all the nostalgia. Also now with just some simple mods like exhaust, intake and shifter it really rips. Best part is most of the parts from my GT fit on my Mach like the exhaust and shifter, gears and springs would have to but I sold them.
