Mach 1 Struts/Shocks vs Stock GT

I just saw another thread commenting on the struts/shocks on Mach 1's and how cheap they can be. I've seen the issue around StangNet but I've never really read those threads. Now, I did a search, but found almost no good info on it (??? Am I just stupid)

I was wondering, compared to a GT, how much better is Mach1 suspension? I know its at least a little better, but is it worth to price and work to do it, or is it just a slight upgrade that will eventually be replaced later for a more worthy aftermarket suspension?

Thanks!

I am looking up car reviews now

Are there any definite numbers out there that people know? Like skidpad, etc?

I replaced the stockers with Mach 1 shock/struts and an Eibach Pro Kit but I couldn't tell you if it's better or if it'd be replaced again later... I don't know that much about suspension.

I have this same setup. I'd say it's a good way to make your car handle better cheaply. It's not the ideal setup of drag or road racing but on the streets it is an improvement over stock. Definetely stiffer and you will notice it! Worth the money and effort to install. Installation is pretty easy if you have access to air tools. I wouldn't try to do it without them! Good luck and hope it helps. For skidpads or any other info I'd say check out the Mach1 specs and go off of that! Should be pretty close!

i j/ brought up the question about the kit being too cheap? i saw that ur interested in it too...it is really cheap and the shocks/struts are tokico's so there has to be quality in that...$180 for that setup and many people have commented on it being better handling than stock..i'm not tryin to pay like $300 for shocks/struts since i'm not doing professional racing..if this setup will let me have fun on turns and isnt expensive..i'm looking into it more before i buy it..cuz ..how much better handling is it compared to other shocks/struts?

I've had Mach I shocks/struts (w/H&R SS springs) for about 1.5 years and its been great for the money. Looks nice and low, handles well, and have still gotten a 1.79 60ft and hoping to improve that further.

do u still have to stop and drive slow for speed bumps? because on mine, i have to slow down or the bump will hit something under the car... :nonono:

I have the Mach1 Shocks/Struts/Springs teamed up with a 29mm 03/04 Cobra front sway bar ans a 27mm 98 Cobra rear sway bar.

It now rides a little harder than a Mach1 and handles like a Cobra (very close anyway no IRS).

Hmmm, would it be worth it to spend more though? Say just a hundred more?

It also seems a lot of you guys use different springs. Should I use a similar spring to what comes stock with the mach 1? (I think its a quarter inch drop from stock GT) to keep the geometry the most efficient? I dont want to control arms to angle upwards with too low a spring
