i've heard alot of discussion on suspension and everyone has a different opinion, but many like the mach 1 suspension orderable from GEFRacing.com...they're pretty cheap and the have tockico's on them. i need something w/ better handling that'll drop my car more than it's stock 4x4 look. i dont trust my stock suspension the handling just isnt good enough..opinions?

The Mach suspension is only OK. If I were you I'd look elsewhere since the Mach susp is only 1/2 inch lower than the GT so it'll still look 4X4, though handling will be much improved. & before anyone flames yes I do know about the GT suspension as my last ride was a 2000GT. See sig.

With the suspension in my sig. the 4x4 look is gone and handling is on par with my 2000 SS with the SLP Bilstein suspension.
I don't see how the 4X4 look is gone but if so, good for you. I had to put 2" lowering Eibach Sportline Springs on my old GT to get rid of the look. Pics in my sig's link.

if you're going to get it, i would suggest cutting the stock mach springs. i dont think they lowered it enough either.
Agreed. Nice color. I'm leaving my suspension alone for the time being, for purposes of weight transfer. But believe you me, as soon as I put my DRs on there next year I'll be vamping the suspension. :rlaugh: This thing already can't hold up to the wicked gearing. :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

Yeah i have the Steeda sport springs in my car. Lowering it was more important to me then the weight transfer. Although the only times i went to the track were after the sport springs were installed. I wonder if it would of made a difference...

If the Sport Springs made a difference @ all I would guess about a .1 or .2 second loss maximum. I can't wait to hit the track Friday to see my new times.

I debated getting the Mach 1 suspension as well, but as stated above, it doesn't really drop your car. Assuming you have an 03 and you want to lower your car you can go with the Eibach Pro kit or if that's not low enough you can go with H&R SuperSports. I paid 228 shipped to my door. Than ordered some KYB SnS's and new spring Isolators. If your gonna drop it that much you may want to seriously consider C/C plates. Some people say you need them some say you don't. You don't need them as long as you don't mind them drilling a hole in your car so they can move the existing braces/plates. Here is a pic of my car with the SuperSports, your car won't be quite as low though, the 99+ has I think either a half or quarter inch differance.

the eibach pro kit will lower the car but how is the handling on that...i'm starting to h/u my suspension before i get a blower in in the spring..so i need it to look good but handle better

My GT with the Mach1 kit on it seems to sit lower than my buddies Mach1. I personally think that some people here consider more than a 1.5 inch gap 4x4 I don't. There is a difference between droping a car and making it handle.

The wheel wells in Mustangs are kind of bowed more than other cars so I think it looks really odd when they are lowered to much. It looks like this /O\

ill say this the ride and handling is pretty nice with the mach1 suspension, seems to be on par with my previous 00gt vert with steeda springs, but its still kicking the 4x4 ride height.
perhaps the steeda springs coupled with mach1 shocks/struts would yield what your looking for. the steeda spring rates are right in the neighborhood of the mach 1 springs.

Thats what I'm thinking too, I have the steeda sports springs on mine and love the drop, but wouldn't mind if it was a half inch or so lower, any more than that and you wont be able to get over a friggin speed bump. Right now, I have scraped once or twice and only when i have a "plus size" person in the car and dont stop and think about it. If you dont want to have to take most speed bumps at 5-8mph than you should consider the setup mentioned above. :flag:

You should take all speed bumps @ no greater than 5MPH anyway, especially if you're running Long Tube Headers.

that seems like a pretty big waste of money to order the mach 1 suspension and not even use the springs...then buy the steeda sport springs...is there neway to get everything the mach 1 has in pieces and substitue the steeda sport springs..or will it cost more...or j/ not possible?
