Mach 1 ??

What are the average 1/4 mile times with your tipical bolt on Mach 1? I don't want any times with power adders. Is the motor as strong as every one makes them out to be. What is the difference from the 01' Cobra motor? I can get a brand new one with my A plan real cheap, and they have the two colors I love. Orange or Yellow!
Thanks Brandon

Well, a stock Mach is capable of low 13s with a good driver, so I would guess w/ just gears, beefed up rear, and some DRs you could make it into the 12s

:stupid:

However I did see 1 last year with just a K&N and DR's run 12.97. Not sure what his MPH was through the traps.

There are a couple dead stock Machs that have run 12.8 - 12.9. Granted, the driver was awesome as well as the track- but, the Mach is still one bad beast.

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords have run one 13.13 stock.

If you don't believe me, here is a link to a guy who ran 12.89 bone stock: Link

BTW- Go for the Mach! I got mine through A/Z plan as well and it is one awesome car.

I still look at it in amazement everytime I see it, as well as most other people that see it. The thing is a real head turner- especially for the women! :D

Live my dream and get the comp orange mach. They are beasts. Make sure it's a 5 speed, not that I have anything against autos, but it has a forged crank as opposed to a cast crank. The stick redlines at 6800 rpm, while the auto tops at 5800. They usually dyno in the upper 280 rwhp range stock. One difference between the Mach motor and 99-01 Cobras is the cams. I think the Mach has the same cams as the Navigator's 5.4. As far as the rest of the block, it still has the hypereutectic pistons, so you would need to build it if you wanted to go wild. I'd say get a mach, go at least 4.10s, full exhaust, build the rear, slap on some d/rs, and you'll be a solid 12 second car.

No. They don't have the '01 Cobra engine. Its nothing close. Its a unique setup that basically took all the best parts from what Ford had in their bins.

The difference between the 5 spds and the auto is the 5sp has a forged crank. I'm not sure why they did it, since Ford has never been known to have failures from their cast crank, even at high rpm levels... must of had a few spare forged cranks to get rid of.

High 12's to low 13's are what most Machs are hitting at the track. I'm getting 13.4 from an auto with minor mods. I'm expecting my Procharger any day now, so I'll see if that will awaken the beast within....

Thanks guys, so what is the hot set up to get the Mach's to run low 12's na? My supercharged 00' only runs high 11's and I am making 523 rwhp? I have a Cobra killer motor from Tim. I only picked up .5 and 12mph in the 1/4 mile with this new motor. I gaines 100hp by upping the boost. I think i am going to sell my car ang get this Mach. My car lost its driveability, if you know what I mean. It is only a race car. It is no fun to drive on the street.
Thanks Brandon

I heard a rumor that the reason the auto mach 1 tops out at 5800 is cause they dont trust the tranny to handle anything past that. So because of that there was no need for the forged crank. That's just what I heard.....and it makes sense to me

A guy I met at NE Dragway with Azure Blue Mach 1 has 4.30's and "Just about all the bolt ons". He ran a best of 12.05 last season when I met him (this season) and the 2nd time I saw him he said he hit 11.9x

His name is Rodney and he has run 11.97....

The engine in the mach is more like the maurauder than any other motor and only the 5sp has the forged crank.

I had only raced a few times 15 years ago and I could still manage 13.5 bone stock on a very green track early in the season.

With a few bolt ons you will be easily in the 12's

I love my Mach, with just a midpipe/catback swap, new shifter, K&N and some mileage on the motor it's woken up a lot while at the same time pretty forgiving during commutes to and from work. Stock Goodyears are a joke though. If you plan on going to the track a lot, plan on beefing up the rear cause the stock 28 spline axles are also a joke if you want to run stickier tires for a long period of time.
