mach 460 problems

when my front 6x8's took a dump on me, and i was sick of loading up the changer, i decided to rip the changer, front speakers, and old head unit out and replace it all with a alpine head unit, and pioneer 6x8's(i think 220 max and ehhh 50 or 60 RMS?...cant remember). now i ended up buying it at circuit city since there was a great deal and free installation offered... now ive got problems, and of course they are clueless as to whats wrong, so maybe you can help me out. when they hooked up the head unit, i think they bypassed the two rear amps behind my passenger seat, but even as it is, my stereo is pretty damn loud at 7-10 of 35 bars of volume, so besides that, when i hit about 10 bars, my bass will hit, and ill hear a "pop" or "click", then my bottom end will be cut out for about 5 seconds, then it will return until another heavy part of the song, what is going on here? is it part of a safety feature in the 460 sound system? did they wire it right? and would it be possible/ reasonable to re-encorporate the two rear amps or is that not necessary with a 50x4 power output from the head-unit?? i only ask because with the top down i cant even hear the music on the high-way any help much appreciated

Chances are that they did not bypass the two rear amps and the "pop" and "click" you are hearing are those amps shutting off because they are getting too much power from that head unit. CC guarentees all labor done and they NEED to fix the problem. I haven't worked on too many Mach systems, myself, so I would need to check the books at work. If I had to make a quick guess, I would say that the rear amps need to be bypassed, that is why the radio is so loud at such a low volume.

Go back to CC and let them know that the amps need to be bypassed and see what happens. Let me know what they say and I'll have a more indepth answer for you tomorrow if they don't fix it.

You do not need to bypass the amps. You need to find out how they (CC) wired it and if the didn't use a Metra amp integrator harness get one.
