Mach tune vs GT tune

OK i got a bud that just bought a used diablo tuner. He bought it used from a guy that also owned a MACH. Question is...how could I use this to tune my 02 GT or cant I??? Would this be beneficial? Mods are gears, mid and catback exhaust, plenum spacer, timing adjuster (at 14). Along with full suspension and short shifter FYI. Any help appreciated, OH could I F my car up with the tuner?

The Mach 1 and the GT use the same tuner.

yea they both use the same tuner but the canned tune on the mach 1 is more than likely different from that of the GT. yes it can be used but you will want to make your own tune instead of using the canned tune that it comes with. but im not 100% sure.

Yes you can. It's the same tuner. Don't **** with the A/F ratio. It is dangerous if you don't have a wide band and there is no benefit to changing it with the mods you have. However, where the real power comes from is by maxing out the timing for both 2k-4k and 4k-7k. Both the previously mentioned have been proven effective on the dyno on a GT with similar mods. This is how I run mine and have been doing so for 3 years with no issues. Just make sure you put premium in the fuel tank. There is a SOTP difference by doing this, pulls hard and more responsive.

When your going through the steps with the Diablo all you do is hit "Performance Tune" on the menu and it puts the canned tune into your engine computer. Unless it has a GT canned tune and a Mach 1 canned tune seperately, it's the same canned tune used for both cars. As far as doing a Custom tune, yes they vary greatly. You won't get away with maxing out the spark advance on a Mach 1. You'll end up losing tons of HP on a Mach 1 doing that. They like less timing.

It will work just fine.

Mine started out with a Mach-1, got passed to a GT, and then passed to my GT.

Only problem was my car was running lean... but it was like that even before the tune. Just spend a little dough and go to a shop that has a dyno after you have installed the tune.

Put it on the dyno and see what the A/F is, and adjust from there. While you are at it you can also advance your spark to squeeze some ponies out.

I gained 6.9rwhp and 13 rw lb ft of tourqe by adding a little fuel and more spark advance... all within about 10 mins, for $50 (3 dyno runs)... you cant find anything else that will give you that HP/dollar ratio.

I paid $170 for mine as a reference.

PLEASE keep this in mind. REGARDLESS of how many others have done this, DO NOT JUST MAX OUT YOUR SPARK ADVANCE... It worked fine for smokedurhonda and many others, but EVERY car is different.

My car starting pinging at the track with 6* advance, with 93 octane. You WILL hurt your motor if you fully advance it and dont know the signs and sounds of spark knock.

Advance it is increments (not big ones, maybe 2-3* at a time) and take it on a WOT run under load (as in starting in 3rd gear at lower RPMs WOT and see if it pings at all) and tune from there.

Also keep in mind if you add alot of timing you should add in more fuel. Running lean and detonation are what kill an engine.

I was planning on getting a dyno tune soon, should I expect similar number's to yours?

Remember, Auto's will always show less gain at the wheels.

What all do you have done? Aside from auto's putting down just a little less then they should be comparable.

Only thing is mine may be a little inflated. I ran mine on a Mustang dyno and I feel the tourqe might be reading a little higher than it actually is.

But as far as the actual gains from the tune... yes, you should see around the same, maybe even more. I just modified the canned Predator tune that was allready in there... didnt get a baseline without it.

Not sure if I fully understand your original post, but did your friend buy this tuner for you? Or did he buy it for himself? What I'm getting at is that the tuner will "marry" itself to the car you apply the tune to. So if he has already put a tune on his car, you can't tune yours with it.

I know it sucks, but Diablo made the rules.

You can transfer it to another vehicle as long as the tune is not on the vehicle it is being transferred from.

So once the 1st vehicle to use the tune is married back to the factory tune, the Diablosport can go to another vehicle...

I may have mis understood what you were saying, so I apologize I am stating something allready known.

You can pull codes from another vehicle with a Diablosport thats allready in use with a vehicle however.
