Finally arranged for help and a truck to get my block and everything to the machine shop tomorrow. I made my list for the machine shop, but want to make sure i dont forget anything.
The story goes: 3 years ago, i got my block bored/honed .030 over, had the deck trued, new freeze plugs installed, new bearings put in, crank turned, TFS 10:1 pistons put in, and the shortblock reassembled. Got divorced, had to sell all the parts I bought, took till now to buy it all again. I have decided to go to a carb setup, and pulled all the EFI stuff out. I have since found out that the machine shop i took it to might not have been the best choice, and the shortblock has been in the garage ever since. So now, I want everything taken apart, cleaned, rechecked, balanced, heads and cam stuck in, surface machined for the new cam thrust plate etc.... if i have forgotten anything, please let me know! Thanks in advance!
This is the list ill be giving the machine shop:
1. Dissasemble shortblock
2. Clean cylinders
3. Clean head mating surface
4. Remove any surface rust
5. Balance rotating assembly
6. Machine surface for cam thrust plate
7. Reassemble shortblock
8. Check clearances / tolerances to ensure (other machine shop) checked it correctly
9. Install Camshaft (straight up, not advanced or retarded)
10. Install timing chain
11. Install heads
Ill install the intake, carb, and the easy stuff, but i dont have enough experience to do everything else myself, and after waiting this long, i dont want to fudge it all up.
