Long story short, I need some FR500's with an 05+ stang 30mm offset, but they arent available in silver, so I am thinking about having 6mm-7mm milled off the mounting pad of my 24mm offset FR's to achieve this... Has anyone ever had this done, & is it safe... I could just get 2 new front wheels in black & have them paint matched to my DD silver rears, but this will cost well over $500 when all said & done, plus they might not be a perfect match & then I will have to get the rears painted too....

Anyone have any info or experience???

Thanks...

I'd call Weldcraft and get their opinion. Taking 2-3 tenths off doesn't sound like much, but it could be enough to affect the structural integrity of the wheel.

I don't have any experience but I would think it is possible. Will you still have enough clearence for the caliper though? Is it so you can get your fronts inside the fenders with the mm k-member? Also it is like 30 bucks a wheel for powdercoating, which will stand up to wear a lot better then paint.

You know what, I never thought about caliper clearance. Yup, the MM k member made the wheels stick out of the fenders, so I installed 95 spindles to bring the wheels in. But, this made the car have tremendous amounts of bumpsteer from the geometry being off, & after a year of dealing with it, I am getting tired of it. I am gonna put the 03 spindles back on...

I dont think FR's are powdercoated from the factory, & the finish is holding up pretty well...

I have had friends take wheels to an alum welder and make them from 10in to like 4, but not sure if they machined the offset at all.

Like stated above, the only thing I'd be worried about is the integrity of the wheel. There is no reason it CAN'T be machined flat and perfect but what happens the first time you hit a bump?
