We decided to head to the drag strip this weekend. Drove for 3.5 hours to Tri-state Raceway in Earlville, Iowa. There weren't too many cars there, but it was a good time.
I just got some new street wheels and tires for the car, so I figured I would just run those, and not put my other MT ET streets on. They are chrome 03 Cobra wheels 17X9 fronts with 255/45/17 nitto 555, and 17X10.5 in the back with 315/35/17 555R's.
I had a hard time figuring out how to launch. There was a fine line between bogging it, and blowing them off. I got pretty consistant with launching at 3200 rpm off the 2 step.
In practice I ran
11.805 @ 125.82
11.797 @ 119.76
11.799 @ 118.12
Not too sure why the MPH was off on the last 2 runs. At half track on all 3 runs the MPH was about the same around 96.5. So that kind of has me baffled
Then time trials started. In the first round I got the #1 qualifier position with a .004 reaction time. (all luck on that one.)
I made it all the way to the finals where I raced a Super Bee. He had a 10.20 dial in, and I had an 11.79. Well I ran an 11.790 @ 125.30 and took the win in the Domestic class.
I broke out in the last race between the tuner and the domestic class. I had an 11.79 dial in, and ran an 11.68. Oh well, it was my quickest pass of the day, here is a rundown of the slip.
60' -- 2.017
330 -- 5.167
1/8 -- 7.712
MPH -- 96.91
1000 -- 9.884
1/4 -- 11.688
MPH -- 124.75
Next time out I will have to slap on my Et Streets, and see if I can get my 60' times down. The best I could muster on the Nittos was a 1.977.
My friends I went up with did not have as good of a day. They were just doing partial runs to dial in the 60' times, and the tranny on the car blew after about the 3rd run.
I didn't get any time to take pictures while I was there. Only 1 with a partial of my friends car.

On a side note, what kinda times were you running Tom?
