Lightning?, SCT? or Anderson pro 80maf?

Building a new setup for my 95 cobra coupe.

CURRENTLY....
Currently running stock gt40 motor and heads with KB 1500 6 lb pulley. 42 lb injectors anderson motorsport power pipe with anderson ProM 80mm supercharged MAF. With a sct tune, got 331 horse 340 torque at rear.

OVER WINTER....
I have a DSS 306 Pro bullet with AFR 185 heads 61cc. Ordering a FTI custom cam next week. Have a KB 1500 running 8psi, still same 42lb injectors. Compression is just under 9 to 1. Will be running a gt crank pulley so actual boost will be around 8.5 to 9 psi. 255 intank pump, bbk long tube headers, Bassani catback. 70mm throttle body too.

Went to my dyno guy, EJ'S dyno in Omaha "the man" he states that my Anderson Pro-M 80mm supercharged MAF will be pegged if I leave it on. He recommended a 90 lightning or a Big a$$ SCT MAF 2400. I hoping for 450 rwhp out of this setup!:nice: or more:nice: :nice: will get tunned with SCT chip.

The car is a multi-purpuse car....show, drag 4 or 5 times a year and autocross occasionally. Not a daily driver but must be street friendly(parades).

With this info in mind, you Kenne bell guys or tuners on here...What would you recommend to support this horsepower safely and why.

Lightning $99
SCT $300

Thanks Purvenm

I don't have any experience with blower combos and I certainly don't wanna make it seem like I know more than a Pro Tuner here.

Lots of peeps with forced incduction combos have used 42's and that maf for their combos in the past.

I find it hard to believe your gonna peg that maf. That maf & cal will support a good bit of air flow.

I think you are wise to ask this Q. I'm looking forward to some insite on this myself!

Hopefully someone with more experience will get involved here.

Like John, I also have heard good things about both of those mafs.

If the Anderson MAF is essentially a Pro-M calibrated for 42's, you are not going to peg it unless it is badly calibrated. We have seen Pro-Ms calibrated for 42's peg at 330 RWHP when they should be good to 500 or so. I ran a Pro-M calibrated for 42s in my own KB car for years and never had a problem.

The other thing is KBs are NOT dyno queens - you most likely will not see 450 RWHP, in fact if you did with a 1500 and 9#, it'd be a miracle. More like 350-375 is realistic. But that's not to say it will not run great - it will. The 1500's on a 5.0 with good heads just plain run out of steam at higher RPMs, you'll likely experience a boost drop at 4000 and up when the motor's airflow demands exceed the blower's ability to provide the airflow. My 5.0 with a 1500 went 11.7/115 in my 3700# car and it only made 360. When I added a 2200 and a Flowzilla, it went 11.1/123 and only made 405. KB'sd are NOT about peak power - it's the high broad torque peak and the power under the cuver that move you along.

The combo most people with 1500s have best luck with is a 90mm LMAF and 42's. A BA 2400 would be OK too, although way overkill. You are supposed to size your MAF so you are using 80% of it's range - so you have good resolution and good driveability and a BA 2400 will be way over what you require.
