ok i researched it but couldnt find anything where anyone was swapping an entire harness. so im going from the wiring harness in an 87 lx 5-speed to one from a 91 gt 5-speed i ran into a problem just a little ways up from the plugin to the eec. there is only 1 other conector inside the car on my original wiring harnesswhich is a rectangle plugin with 8 pins inside but on the harness from the gt there is the 8 pin rectangle plugin puls a round silver plugin with 5-6 pins inside. what is this silver plugin for? i think it may be something for the power windows or locks that were not on my car but were on the gt. i need help fast guys im waiting on this to finish up. any help will be appreciated and thanx for reading the saga.

thx

Most folks just buy a conversion harness and add it to the existing harness. See http://www.stangnet.com/tech/maf/massairconversion.html for help.

bbunt302 had this to say about swapping harnesses...

Just for reference, here's a list of all the compatible years:

89 harness should work for 86-89 as long as you're using mass air.
90 harness will only work in a 90. (B/c of air bags and dual dash connectors)
91 through early 92 harnesses should be compatible (single dash connector, fuel pump relay under driver's seat)
Late 92 through 93 harnesses should be compatible (single dash connector, fuel pump relay under the hood)

The Chilton's shop manual has all the wiring diagrams and might be your best source.
