Found a MAF on ebay its from a 96 GT does anybody know if they will work on our cars?

I wanna find one cheap so when i upgrade injectors it won't be so bad spending the money to get it re-caled

i have a c&l 80mm cal'd for 19# injectors (i.e. - blue tube) from a 1996 in my car. the 95 electronics fit perfectly, but i think the 96 sensor must send a different voltage to the 96 computer because when i put it in my car, it ran really lean. since i have a tweecer, i could adjust the maf_transfer function for it, so i can use it, but you might find yourself running really lean if you try to use it without making a change to the computer.

i suppose i could have also compensated for it by increasing my fp, but the tweecer made that unneccessary ... that may be an option if you cannot update the computer.

here's a pic of the stock one next to the c&l ... the thing is a monster compared to the stocker ...

Well that gt still had 19lb inj. so you realy at most will not gain anything cept a headache from having a maf transfer that is not right. Unless you have some kind of tune/tuner I dont think the MAF will work well. If you want to cheat the computer look at C&L, or get a pro-M that is for your setup.

yeah i don't have a tweecer so i guess i'll forget about that one. I really want a pro-m but i can't see spending 230 on one then having to spend another 100 to get it changed when i get bigger injectors. thats why i was hoping to find one cheap

when it comes to mixing parts between 4.6's and 5.0's most of the time it dosent work, you will save more money in the long run if you just buy the parts that are ment to go on our cars and not going back and fixing what dosent work later on. They make pleanty of C&L and Pro-M Meters for our cars on Ebay.

I do understand not wanting to have spend a lot of money but that is hard to do when modding a Stang.

If you self tune you don't have to spend money on maf recals, chips, dyno tunes, etc. So I would say to you to put the money you would have spent on that stuff toward a Tweecer instead.

Only problem with that is the money you have to lay out for everything you need to self tune.

Bottom line ...... If you are gonna go the distance with your combo and not just a mod or two ...... Doing it on the CHEAP is very hard if not impossible to do.

btw ...... I would put the money toward some gears as opposed to a maf.

Well I know what i want to do as far as modding. I have realized its not cheap with our cars. But I have a 75mm tb and i want to get a 80mm MAF to get the full potential out of my tb. That and my CAI is pretty much riged on half ass because after putting on the TFS i guess it moved some stuff so i want to get my tb and new maf on so i can cut it down or what not to make it fit right i'm kinda worried that someday i'll be driving and the damn thing will fall off.

Future Plans are: TFS Twisted Wedge heads, TFS stage 1 cam, 24# injectors, AFPR (which is not really a big deal), and some gears probably 4.10s

But like some of us on here money is a problem I can't just throw a **** load of money into my car at once so i'm doing a little at a time. Getting the little stuff first so when i get my heads and cam its all done and its ready for them

And then i'll think about a tweecer because I know everybody has issues after putting a cam in and modding it that much

That is why I pointed you in the direction of the Gears instead of the maf.

Way more gain for the buck spent with gears than maf.

heck, modding our cars is alot less expensive than modding a 4.6.

and fwiw, i just happened to have the 80mm left over from when i had a 96 and since i have the tweecer, i could make it work easily. i didn't buy it for the 95.

I would rather get the big items out of the way then the little stuff. You'll feel little to no gain with the supporting mods at this time. Way more fun to get the heads, cam and intake first and then worry about your TB and MAF. I had the stock MAF and TB for awhile with H/C/I.

Exactly !!!

Only thing about doing it that way is if the money comes to you a little at a time it is hard to be disciplined and not spend the money on the small gain stuff. When you are stock, its only natural to want to buy something so you can get started on modding your Stang

The small gain stuff like tb, maf, roller rockers, and the like really start to add up to a lot of money and then you begin to think ...... All this money spent for only this much gain

Exhaust mods on a stocker are not what you could call big gain items either ...... but at least you can hear where your money went
