what are the symptoms of a bad MAF

bad idle, huge loss of power, etc.

runs very rough at first startup. After a few minutes of running, the car should run better. At WOT, the car doesn't accelerate well.

car will pretty much run like crap if at all. The MAF plays a very key roll in the driveablilty of the car.
