Which do you guys honestly think is an overall better catback?
and I hear all these people saying if you run an X pipe with the SLP that it sounds like garbage...is this true?
I'm not looking for a really loud raspy exhaust, I do want loud but i want that deep rumble. Or is flowmaster 40 mufflers with an X pipe a better idea? whats your opinion?
thanks alot for advice

slp loud mouth uses a resonator. It sounds very similar to a strait pipe IMO.

If you want a deep rumple I don't know why you would go flowmaster. they are chambered and have more of high pitched sound.

loud exhuast with a deap rumble you may lock at a o/r H-pipe and magnaflow.

then again if you think flows have a deep rumble you may have a different definion of that than I do.

one thing to rembert on these car si the 4 stock cats. the right catback with cats can sound very obnoxious if you remove them. A very good sounding cat back can be too quite with the cats on as well.

If you are looking for low rumble I say Magnaflow with an x pipe.

deepest rumble i ever heard in person is my friends bassani catback. i had flows 40 series before my current setup, and his bassani makes the flows sound like little crying babies. my boy had the stock mid pipe, if you add a catte dh pipe that would be sick with bassani catback.

The magnaflow I agree with. Make sure you get the Magnapacks and not the Magnaflow chambered muffler. However, as I know it, X pipes give a higher pitched, more aggressive sounding whereas H pipes are deeper and more likely to give you that rumble sound you want. Stay with an H-pipe. I prefer cats for emission reasons but if you buy an aftermarket mid pipe with only 2 cats, it will make close to the same power if you had off-road pipes. Definatly go with the magnapacks however.

i had an slp loudmouth on my car and it is currently in my garage up for sale. It sounds pretty good with the stock mid-pipe. If you are matching it up with an off road pipe it sounds like hell, I set it up with my bassani o/r and and i had it off again in 24 hrs because it was so awful.

You want a h pipe and flows. x-pipes have a indy car sound. I love my slp catted x and cat back. I went catless and it was to raspy and loud for a daily driver so I stuck the cats back on.

I just installed a Bassani X-pipe with cats and Magnaflow cat back on my 96 GT and the sound is incredible. It is a very throaty, NASCAR sounding tone. It is loud on acceleration but very nice and mellow at cruising. The power gains were inpressive as well. Needless to say, I am very happy with my decision. It was long thought out and researched. I have the Magaflow mufflers, not the Magnapacks, and my mufflers are not chambered, they are straight through just like the 'Packs.

The 2 best combo's I've heard are these:

1. Magnaflow w/ magnapacks and stock mid-pipe. (of course, this is what I have)

2. Flowmaster 40's w/ MAC Prochamber mid-pipe.

These are the 2 best sounding set-up's I've heard on our Mustangs.

I've got the magnaflows with a mac OR/X and it sounds awesome. Almost sounds like a more exotic car but with the definite mustang attitude
