Well, I got my magnaflow catted x-pipe in the other day. I'll be installing it tomorrow. I'm sure this is a simple install, but I'd like to have some instructions just to be safe. It didn't come with any. Hell, it didn't even come in a box. Anyone have a link or anything with some instructions?

Do a search for pipe install here, or a search for midpipe install on google. You'll find a billion how to things.

It's simply a matter of having the right tools, some patience, and space under the car.

When I bought my catted X, I don't think it had instructions but the cat-back did have a diagram. I know you will need some long extensions to loosen the header to H pipe flange bolts. Also, spray the area with Liquid Wrench a 1/2 hour before you attempt to undo it.

Use caution removing/replacing the O2 sensors.

You will need a 10" extension, Universal Swivel Joint, 15mm Depp Socket and some patience. Be sure to unhook the battery before starting so that you don't arc the starter when removing the nuts on the passenger side exhaust manifold. Good luck. Got my stock one off in about 35-45 minutes and it took roughly 45 minutes to put on my x-pipe, but this was my 3rd time doing it. Good Luck

I found that a 15mm medium depth socket worked best for the passenger side bolts. With the deep well, it was on the bolt at an angle, so it wanted to round it off. The medium depth went on perfectly straight, so the nut came right off. And of course, like HoustonGT said, you'll need the extensions and swivels too.

I should be getting my MAC o/r H tonight to put on, but mine is for LT's so it might be a little easier install :) I remember going at the stock midpipe, I think we got the 2 drivers side bolts off immediately, then one of the passenger side bolts. The last passenger side bolt took about an hour to get off cuz it was so hard to reach and stuck on there. And my car only had about 15k miles at the time. Just be patient and use some penetrating lube like PB blaster.

For actually instructions, your wish is my command:

This is probably the most important thing to remember when you are installing a midpipe. I did a write up on an X pipe install, but I think it got deleted in the 05 stangnet crash. Also, be sure to get some PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench and spray the nuts and let them sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Doing this, I have never had a problem breaking a stud.

I found that a stack of short extensions arched just enough to clear where one straight long one did not, without the flopping problem of a universal. I also second the bit about the penetrating oil, even with the oil I had one nut that did not want to move, and probably spent as much time getting it to off as all the rest put together.

p.s. make sure everything is cool, I even went so far as putting my car up on the ramps and sparying down the bolts with penetrating oil the night before.

skidzz, post your results when your done. I just ordered mine today. I didnt get the mil elims because i hear you dont need them with the magnaflow cats. Let me know if you are using them or not and if all went ok.

when taking off my stock H, I found that using one to two wobble extensions worked the best.....I completely shattered a universal do to the angle of the bolt. I just lined the socket up on the bolt and knocked heck out of it with a hammer, put the extension on, and off came the bolt.
