Magnetic tail panel

I've just ordered one of these off ebay but was wondering if anybody here had tried it and wondered what your experience was.

I went for this because the back of the car tends to get the dirtiest and the honeycomb one looks a nightmare to keep clean plus this has the advantage of being removable in seconds so you can wear it or not, depending on your mood.

in my humble opion cdc offers the best black out. here is my car with the one that i perfer. i get lots of comments on it. i hppe that you find what you like.

I have the honeycomb panel and love it. I tried several and didn't like them before getting this one from Silverhorse Racing (at least I think that's right) at a pre-issue price. It's now available from many sources for quite a bit more than I paid.

Magnetic Blackout panel

I've had one for about seven months. I haven't had any problems at all. I take it off when I wash the car, and make sure that the wax is fresh each time I put it back on. It doesn't slide around and it looks great. I've read some other posts that claim that the magnet will damage the paint after a while. Since I like the look so much, I'm thinking about getting the sticker kit to put on permanently (like a striping kit).

:nice:

I have the magnetic blackout applique from Ebay. I used it most of the summer last year and at a lot of shows. To the casual observer they had no idea it was a magnetic stick on. I was more doing it to make sure I like the look. I originally planned to get it painted, I may consider the SHR honeycomb panel instead. I worry itll look too chunky but Ive seen a lot of nice shots of it.

But yeah the blackout worked good, didnt move around, I took it off every couple weeks and make sure I cleaned both sides really well and hasnt caused an issue at all. It can be a pain to realign properly but once you get the technique its all good.

I don't like the idea of a magnetic just because of the scratches over time. Personally, I don't like the flat black look either, but thats just an opinion. I went with the GTS blackout. Tapes on w/ 3M top and bottom, comes off easy for cleaning. Matches the tinted look out back as well.

Well it arrived today and I'm pretty disappointed with it. Looks like some cheap magnetic sheeting and not what i was expecting at all. I was probably more annoyed that I paid $20 shipping and it clearly cost $9.50. Ah well, live and learn.

I looked at the honeycomb and it's just too fussy, looked at the CDC but I like the fake filler cap so I'll have to look at something else that's smooth but a bit more substantial than a plastic tablecloth.:nono:

Brothers Performance, great place to shop. Actually stopped in while I was in Cali, good folks, customer service is great as well. It's a GTS product. Only issue I have is that finger prints get on it easy.

I found these two. 3d Carbon offer the flat painted panel and RK Sport offer what looks like a very nice carbon fibre piece. Anyone got one?

Surprisingly, the latter is only 110 dollars, half the price of the 3d item. Slightly better pic here:

I tried a 3d carbon piece and it needed to be painted though it was advertised as ready to install. The cost of the panel and then to paint it would have been outrageous. Is it truly ready to install now?
