i went to ford today to get main bolts, but they sell them in packs of 4, but theres 10 main bolts, he also told me i have to buy studs too, (this guy didnt know a spark plug from a muffler) but i found this picture, i have all the old main bolts from when i bought the block, but it did not have the peice for the oil pump pick up (you can see in the picture) where can i get that, or whats it even called? ford is pissing me off, i think i might just go buy ARP main studs......

ARP!! They can't hurt. Sorry i don't know what that is either, but most parts guys aren't the brightest. BTW i'm not a parts guy. I would probably just go the arp route, cheap insurence

just get the ARP main studs, also make sure you buy new OEM side bolts. they are sold individually and are not required to buy packs of 4. btw they do 4 because the v10 uses 12.

you cant just install arp main studs. you have to have the mains align honed because of they way they actaully hold the main caps in place. if you dont believe me call arp. if you havent had the block machined yet then go for it. they are around $200 if you look around.

it is true that you have to line hone with the correct ARP studs, but ive built a couple mod motors for cheapskates who show up with the studs after the block has been honed with the stock fasteners and there hasnt been an issue. not saying it shouldnt be done properly, but you cant forget the redneck factor.

the stud that the guy meant was the one for the oil pump pickup, it should be there.

o and working parts ive been called all sorts of names, especially when i tell lincoln mark 8 owners with HIDs that they cant buy a bulb, they have to buy a $700 kit to convert their car to halogen lights.
