Major Problems... could use some help

Okay so here's my deal. Upon installation of a new ignition my car was firing during intake stroke and the starter wasn't disengaging. SO I reinstalled complete factory and had the same problems. So what's the diagnosis? I keep thinking/hoping it's just one thing but it seems to me that I have both a bad distributor pick up AND starter solenoid... any ideas?

OR how do I test to see if the distributor pick up is bad?

I had the same problem with my starter. Wouldnt disengage(sp). Just change the starter solenoid and problem solved.

mine was the starter. and the ground wire.
