Ok i went to the track for the second time with my 2002 auto GT. all i have performance wise is flows, cold air, and dr's. last time i ran was on bald street tires spinning my ass to a 14.59 with stock 245 all the way around. since then i have 275/40/17 in front and nitto dr's 275/50/15 in the back

street tires
14.59 @ 96.something with 2.30 60'

dr's
[email protected]thing with 2.20 60'

it felt like when i was doing my burnout that i bogged when i went into second gear. it has never done that before on the street. i tried launching anywhere from 1k to 2k with no results on 13psi.

please help

Hmm, I have no idea how you could bog. I'll be getting some DRs next week. I assumed with an auto you just stall it up to the limit, when you see the green go WOT. I'm mainly just posting to bump this b/c I have no clue.

Auto fo' life.....

I always launched 2000-2200 and rode the clutch a little on the launch to get the best traction. my 14.02 stock run was with virtually no spin off the line although when i slammed second i spun pretty good. With the DR's now i can't even get more than a chirp going into 2nd. They help ALOT!

with nittos you can probably drop the clutch at 3000 and still get traction quickly. Your bogging because your letting up on the clutch all the way too quickly.

well if you just mash the gas and your spinning too much dont go full throttle. go about 3/4 throttle and then go full as your rpms start up and you gain traction. Do what you have to to make your rear end plant.

I put 315 nittos on my gt. And it did not help my times at all. I even tried to ride the clutch a little out of the hole!I am going to a different track tonight. Hopefully it was just the track! What was your 60ft? Min e was 2.2xx W/ street tires and D/R's

i have no clue what could be the prob. i launched at 2 grand then at 1500 and then at 1 grand and nothing helped. i know i'm faster then this cause i can beat all my friends with low 14 cars, especially my friend that ran 14.6, i kick his ass.

I just talked to a pretty smart mustang guy and his conclusion is that i am bogging cause i have soo much traction with stock gears. but i thought that just launching at idle would be ok because of that but i guess not.

Your choice

Are you holding it back with the brake at 1700rpm??? or are you simply hitting the gas.

Your time is about right with your mods, you could dump .2 off your 60' with gears. That would put you at low 14.

Gears will stop the bog. Your gears a too long, hence, shift......booooooog then back up again.

Or you can keep your stock gears and add HP.

His time is not right. He should be a half a second faster in the 1/4 mile. If you have an auto it maybe time for a high stall converter...you shouldn't be bogging but i didnt' realize automatics would bog?

the last time i was at the track i ran a 14.512. was my 2nd time to the track. i think i will be going again this coming wednesday. anyways, when i launched it was around 2500 and was shifting at redline. but after doing 1/4 runs on my friends dyno we've dropped the time down some by shifting earlier at around 5000. still gotta play around with it some. the best 60ft time we got on the dyno was a 1.94 ... my best on the track i think is a 2.2.

What do yall mean "his times can't be right"??? Different tracks different weather. I ran a 14.5@96 in Baytown last Fall, in Ennis in Feb. I ran a [email protected] with the exact same 60' time and exact same mods. It all just depends, every car is different, as is every track. You just need some gears and a better 60'. With a 2.0 60' your times would be in the 14.2 range, and that's about right. Perfect weather with a 2.0 and you got a 13.

I can't best a 2.2 on my kuhmos, I'm hoping that DRs can cure that. I haven't heard of any auto guys with DRs bogging.

Now when you stall it up to 1700-1800 and on the green you just stand on it, what does it do?

it just goes and doesn't spin at all with the dr's but my time still sucks ass.

I don't know then. In 4 weeks our track will be open again and I'll have BFG 275/40 DRs. I'm interested in seeing what the result will be. I'll post up my times before and after.

Any other auto guys with DRs want to chime in?

ok i finally have the problem solved. i talked to one of my buddies that is ase certified and races a 5.0. he said that i bogged and that i actually should have ran slower with sticky tires and stock gears. so looks like i'll put the dr's away till i get 4:10s. he said with those i'll be from a .5-1.0 seconds quicker.

I am sorry, but why are you running DR's when you really have a stock Auto?

Your other problem is that you went from a 245's to a 275 in front and a big ol' 275 15" in the rear, this gives you a lot more rotational mass. So even if you picked up .1-.2 with the dr's the xtra rotaional mass probably took that away from your top end making your times almost the same.
